Dental Hygienist : a member of the dental team whose job involves cleaning people’s teeth and giving advice on how to care for them. 2. Endodontis : a dental professional who specializes in the treatment of root canal. 3. Root canal : a hollow thin space inside the root of a tooth that can become infected. 4. Implant : a small titanium fixture that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. 5. Decay : a bacterial infection which causes demineralization and destruction of the hard tissues of thee teeth. 6. Braces : a set of wires worn on teeth to push them into the correct position. 7. Bleaching : chemical treatment of natural teeth that uses peroxide to produce the whitening effect. 8. Bruxism : grinding or gnashing of the teeth, most commonly during sleep. 9. Cementum : hard tissues that covers the roots of teeth. 10. Clasp : device that holds a removable partial denture to stationary teeth. 11. Dentin : inner layer of tooth structure, immediately under the surfaces enamel. 12. Edentulous : having no teeth. 13. Prophylaxis : the cleaning of the teeth for the prevention of periodontal disease and tooth decay. 14. Xerostomia : dry mouth or decrease in the production of saliva. 15. Palate : hard and soft tissue forming the root of the mouth. 16. Apex : the tip of the root of a tooth. 17. Cavitron : dental tool that uses high frequency ultrasonic waves to gently clean teeth. 18. Halitosis : bad breath of oral or gastrointestinal. 19. Parasthesia : a partial loss of sensation ; may be temporary or permanent. 20. Interocclusal : space between upper and lowe teeth. 21. Diatema : open space between teeth. 22. Bifurcation : exposure of the juncture of two roots in posterior teeth. 23. Abutment : tooth or teeth that support a fixed or removable bridge. 24. Abrasion : loss of tooth structure caused by a hard toothbrush, poor brushing technique, or Bruxism (grinding the teeth) 25. Mastication : Process of chewing food.
