Friday:

On Friday it was a pupil free day for the students and a unit planning day for the
teachers. I assisted in planning a Mathematics unit on Cartesian Planes. The day was
enjoyable, full of professional discussion and planning. I learnt a lot about how
teachers moderate work, compare students and subjects, as well as learning styles,
teaching styles and behaviour management. It was a fun day to plan a unit with maths
teachers who have each been teaching for an average of 6-8 years each. This was
good because it meant that the teachers all had different experiences, ideas and
examples to bring to the table when planning the maths unit. I will begin teaching this
unit to the students in the coming weeks which meant that I was even more interested
in the planning side of things. It was great to be treated like a real teacher and to be
asked my opinion on things and have an input into the professional discussion.
