Iam pleased to inform you that Mr. John Bailey, President of Academy of Motion
Picture Arts &
Sciences will be visiting India shortly. Mr. Bailey is an American
cinematographer and film director best known for his collaborations with directors Paul
Schrader, Lawrence Kasdan, Michael Apted, and Ken Kwapis. In August 2017, Bailey was
elected President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for a four-year term.
He was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the
second time in August 2017 , Mr. Baitey is the first cinematographer to hold the position. He
has worked on films like Ordinary People (1980), American Gigolo (1980), The Big Chill
(1983), Groundhog Day (1993), As Good as It Gets (1997), The Anniversary Party (2001),
The Way Way Back (2013), and A Walk in the Woods (2015). In 2015, the American
Society of Cinematographers presented him a lifetime achievement award. From 1971 to
2017, he has been a cinematographer for nearly 70 movies. He has also directed a few
American movies.

2. Keeping in view the contribution of Mr. John Bailey in the media and entertainment
world, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting would like to invite you for a special
interactive session with Mr. John Bailey at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex on 28th May, 2019
in order to discuss and deliberate issues pertaining to media & entertainment and mass
communication in the present context. The minute to minute program of the event is
enclosed for your inlormation.

3. On behalf of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, I also request you to grace
the above mentioned event along with 10 students/faculty members from your institute who
may benefit from this immense opportunity of interaction and discussion on various issues of
