ABACA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Bangui District

NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM

SY 2018-2019

“Health is a treasure. Of all temporal possessions it is the most precious.”

The Abaca Elementary School joins the advocacy of the Department of Education,
through the School Health Division-Bureau of Learner Support Services (SHD-BLSS) to address
undernutrition and short-term hunger among public school children called School-based Feeding
Program (SBFP) under DO 51, S 2016.

The school received fund to purchase the goods needed in the implementation of the
program and it is properly liquidated. The School Canteen Teacher together with the parents of the
beneficiaries and the GPTA President helped hand in hand in the preparation and cooking of meals
of the SBFP beneficiaries and it was completed successfully.

The program had shown great improvement to the nutritional status, classroom attendance
and nutritional values and behaviour of the beneficiaries in our school. As an evident to this, during
the opening of classes the school had recorded 13 pupils from different grade levels who are
undernourished. After implementing the 120 feeding days of SBFP the school had recorded two (2)
beneficiaries left undernourished.

Therefore, based on the data given this program had reached its goal. May the government
continue this program to spread the help to all those who need especially to our school children in
order for them to enjoy a fruitful and meaningful quality education for a better life.
