SELF-REFLECT:
If all the stakeholders contribute positively in curriculum implementation, do you
think, curriculum change or development will succeed? Why or Why not?

First of all, curriculum development or change cannot be done with just one person
alone without any support from professionals and non-professionals. For it to succeed, it
should be participatory, especially because other stakeholders like students, school leaders,
parents and curriculum specialists are the one who give support for every changes.
Curriculum change does not happen with just a blinking of an eye, it requires time, effort and
of course money. And where will the money come from, of course from other stakeholders:
Government agencies and non-government agencies.

Let’s say that the new curriculum has been adapted by a specific school but if the
parents are against of this new curriculum then they will not let their children study on that
school, logically means that if there are no students, what will be the purpose of the school?
And if ever the parents want to know more about that new curriculum, then that is now the
job of the school leaders, to inform the parents and to assist the teachers in implementing
the curriculum. Furthermore, if the school have school activities and programs, they need of
course an assistance from the community in which people in the community may help in
organizing or make the programs and activities successful. Such help includes: security from
barangay tanod, guest speakers from other places, higher authorities and the like.

So if I were to be asked if the curriculum development will succeed when all of the
stakeholders work together, my answer is definitely yes. There should be a harmonious
relationships between one another. There should be respect to one another’s needs and
perceptions as well as cultures and traditions. And these things to be done, there is only one
thing that all stakeholders must consider always, UNITY.
