1. BACKGROUND

the development of science and technology today, then educational institutions

such as universities are required to improve teaching methods and education. because
it, Gadjah Mada University, as one of the academic institutions that oriented to science
and technology provides an opportunity for students to develop themselves in order to
compete the existing development. one way is to provide practical work programs in
the curriculum as an activity that must be followed by students.
The D III SV education program is organized with the primary objective of
supporting the development of new industries and improving the quality of existing
industries. This Professional Education will produce highly skilled Madraspower.
Education in Vocational School especially Diploma of Electrical Engineering
implements a package system that is teaching and learning system that requires
students to take all courses programmed in each period of the school year.
The education period is 3 years or 6 semesters. Each semester consists of 22-23
credits and each student is required to undertake subjects with a total load of 110-120
credits. Educational programs are organized with an average comparison of 40% of
used theory (activities in the classroom) and 60% of laboratory practice. This
percentage of lectures allows graduates of Diploma in Electrical Engineering to
become middle-level experts in industry.
Electrical engineering students are also equipped with theory and practicum
about instrumentation and installation related to oil and gas company that can become
the basis of students in choosing the world of work someday, for that the selection of
workplace practice is very important to open the insight of students in the selection of
the world of work.
Student insight into the world of work related to industrialization is
indispensable, with respect to the objective conditions of Indonesia which is a
developing country, where technology is entered and applied by industry first. So it is
expected that the future of students as prospective output from universities will be more
familiar with the development of the industry.

PT. Star Energy Indonesia is Indonesia's largest producer of crude oil, which
accounts for about 40 percent of national oil production, is engaged in every aspect of
the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production, refining, marketing and
power generation. Alternative energy produced, among others, Geothermal, solar
energy, wind energy, biofuels, solar cells, and hydrogen.
Based on the above facts, PT. Star Energy Indonesia is a great place to learn
firsthand the application of energy conversion science and generation system at PT.
Star Energy Indonesia is very advanced, so what is learned in related courses at the
time of the course can be compared and see its application directly to companies that
are multi-national scale.

The purpose of this Practice Work is:

general purpose :

1. Students Work Practice can gain experience directly and students can analyze and
solve problems that can occur in the world of work.
2. Ability to implement the learning that has been obtained during the course (4
semesters) at the University of Gadjah Mada.
3. Increase insight, skill and improve the ability of softskill and hardskill.
4. Meet the subjects of Electrical Engineering Work Practice Gadjah Mada University.

1. It is expected that the students get work experience in accordance with their
respective fields.
2. Students have a view of the real world of work, so they can prepare to face the world
of work after graduation later.
3. The presence of practical work students are expected to provide benefits for both
themselves and the company.

1. Understand more deeply about the application of systems and electricity in the
industry, especially those used by PT. Star Energy Indonesia.

 Understand the work processes of electrical systems, operating systems and

the application process.
 Understand common problems surrounding electrical systems, operating
systems and analysis of solutions.
 Experience and dynamics of working in teams in a real organization
industry. This includes decision-making and problem-solving.
 Experience to see and experience the real application of science in the real
world of work.

5. WORKING FORMS OF PRACTICE

The form of Job Training (Apprenticeship) which can be used as the following
methods:
• Involved in routine work and public meetings that discuss with the job
• Given a task / project.
• Given opportunities for presentations and feedback from work teams.

6. OBJECTS OF OBSERVATIONS
Topics that will be discussed during the Job Training is according to the
agreement of students and companies. For that I propose some topics that can
be used the basic study topics that have been and are taking:
1. The use and maintenance of heavy equipment in the area of petroleum
exploration operations of PT. STAR ENERGY INDONESIA.
2. The use and maintenance of petroleum distribution pumps in PT. STAR
ENERGY INDONESIA.
3. Turbine treatment on power plant system of PT. STAR ENERGY
INDONESIA.

7. METHOD OF COLLECTING DATA

1. Interview Method
Methods of data retrieval through interviews with officers who have been
appointed to provide data about the object to see.
2. Observation Method
Methods of data retrieval by initiating directly on the object.
3. Method of Participation
Methods of data retrieval and information that involve praktikan directly in
certain activities.
4. Method of literature
Methods of data collection are done by reading and viewing reference
books.

8. METHOD DISCUSSION OF DATA

1. Descriptive
Method of discussion of data by way of systematically describing facts and
certain characteristics factually and carefully.
2. Interpretative
Added the problem being analyzed and then draw conclusions.
