PROJECT TITLE: UPGRADING OF CABUGAO BHS INTO A BEMONC (

BASIC EMERGENCY MATERNAL OBSTETRIC AND

NEONATAL CARE) FACILITY
LOCATION: CABUGAO, BATO, CATANDUANES

NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION

a. Demolition / excavation / Earthworks

The existing Barangay Health Station is located at the plaza . it

is adjacent from the senior citizen and the day care building. It
is so constructed that no further extension can be done
because of limited space. Concrete gutter could not be
constructed because it would affect the existing two building.
Roof line of the buildings around the BHS is so close that it is
almost touching each other.

Plan/ elevations / sections/ description

The plan and specs of the proposed BEMONC is indicated in
the plan including the sections and elevation. The Proposed
Bemonc facility is 11.14 m x 8..08 m to include Labor room ,
Delivery room ward and a room intended for the midwife as
required during maternal procedures. A small pantry is also
included for domestic use like cooking, washing etc…it is
smaller than what is approved by the DOH.

b. Roof and Roof Framing

The Building will have the same roof f except for some minor
repairs and painting. Pre fab stainless 6mm”gutters will be
installed to replace for the dilapidated gutters around the roof
line .Downspouts and catch basins would be provided .Storm
rain storage ( rain water collector) would also be constructed
at the back of the building to harness rain water during
monsoon months. Trusses, hip trusses and rafters will be
retrofitted/ reinforced as part of the repair.

c. Masonry/ carpentry
The floor shall be made of concrete and shall be provided with
.40 x .40 ceramic tiles as prescribed in the plans. All masonry
walls shall be of 4 “CHB. Carpentry wall would be on doubled
walled marine plywood (¼”, If necessary). It shall be fastened
on a 2x2 vertical and horizontal studs resting on 2x4 bases.
Cabinets and lavatory shall be provided according to plan. All
concrete walls shall be plastered and finished accordingly.
Opening a Partition between the Labor and Delivery room is
necessary to provide easy access to expectant mother. A
midwife room will constructed adjacent to the birthing rooms
because the midwife shall assist in the delivery procedures
even after her duty. it would serve as her resting area. A rain
water collector shall be constructed at the back potion of the
 building to harness rainfall during monsson months. Gravel sand
filter shall be provided for the collector to ensure GOOD
QUALITY of water.

Placenta pit and sharp vault shall also be constructed for

proper disposal of health care waste . (see plan for specs.)

Painting
New painting work would be applied to the new building.
Complete painting of the new building will include application
of concrete neutralizer and succeeding coats of appropriate
brand of paint. Paint emulsion will also be applied to protect
the building form wear and tear. Roof paint shall be double
coated to ensure proper protection of GI sheets from corrosion
for reasons that the location of the BHS is near the coast and
therefore is prone to fast corrosion. Provide the following for
painting works.

Flat latex paint – Boysen or its equivalent

Gloss latex paint– Boysen or its equivalent
Flat wall enamel– Boysen or its equivalent
QDEname– Boysen or its equivalent
emulsion– Boysen or its equivalent

d. Electrical / Plumbing

Plumbing works-
Plumbing works will include the repair and installation of new
water and sewer lines to the Bemonc facilty. A new designed
septic tank will also be constructed for the new building.
(Watertight)..all plumbing fixtures shall be provided as new as
required in the plans. Lavatory for the pantry and scrub up shall
be stainless ( .40 x .60 m with wings) .

Electrical Works
Electrical works shall be completely new for the Bemonc
building. It shall be in in conformity to the electrical code of the
Philippines. OR lights with high illumination settings will be
provided to the Delivery room and shall be provided with a
dedicated AVR to suppress power low voltage / and electrical
surges.

e. Doors and Windows

All doors for the bemonc facility would be provided as new
including door knob and door closer ( see details at plan).
Windows shall be of steel casement including the provision of ¼
clear glass as panel and shall be fastened by silicon as
required.
Z bars for the steel casement shall be standard quality as
specified in the plans. Double even and swing doors shall have
a heavy duty jambs ( yakal or its equivalent)
