The Municipality of Magsaysay

is a part of Occidental Mindoro
and it has a rich culture and
biodiversity. It is known for
tourists’ spots like beaches,
island hopping and agricultural
festivities. One of its barangays
is the Brgy. Alibog, which is
located at the Mountainous part
of the Magsaysay area. The
barangay has a population of
2,802 and has many businesses and establishments mostly for resort and vacation.
Alibog is situated at approximately 12.2467, 121.2168, in the island of Mindoro.
Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 156.3 meters or 512.8 feet above
mean sea level. The population of Alibog grew from 2,207 in 2000 to 2,802 in
2015, an increase of 595 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote there was
no change from the previous population in 2010.

Purpose of the Proposed Railroad

Brgy. Alibog is situated in the end part of the Magsaysay area in which it is
surrounded by the mountainous area. And the only transportation for the people
from the town proper of Magsaysay is to ride a boat. In which will be difficult
when there is a high tide or a strong wind. And also the goods that the population
needed from the Magsaysay proper is an important factor for the economic and
everyday lives of the people. The railroad will be a way to minimize the cost, the
travel time and the danger of the transportation. This will produce economic
activity throughout the Magsaysay town proper and the Alibug area.
