TYPES OF SENTENCES ACCORDING TO STRUCTURE

(Source:

 A sentence is usually defined as a group of words that expresses a complete thought.

Incomplete: Cured the sick and fed the hungry. (Who?)
Complete: Jesus cured the sick and fed the hungry.

 Every sentence has two essential parts: the subject and the predicate.
SUBJECT PREDICATE
Jesus Christ sanctified his Father’s name

Subject is that part of the sentence about which something is being said.
Predicate is that part of the sentence that says something about the subject.

 A CLAUSE is defined as a group of words containing a subject and a predicate; it functions as part of a sentence.

Two Kinds of Clauses:

 INDEPENDENT CLAUSE or Main Clause has a subject and a verb can stand by itself as a complete sentence. All
complete sentences must contain at least one independent clause.
 We will commemorate the Memorial of Christ’s death on March 28 this year.
 I will attend this solemn occasion, and I will invite my friends.
 We must be grateful to God who sacrificed his son for us.

 DEPENDENT CLAUSE or Subordinate Clause has a subject and a verb but cannot stand on its own as a sentence.
 Unless we exercise faith in the ransom, our sins will not be forgiven unless we exercise faith in the ransom.
