Super Duper Bible Box Instructions PDF
Preschool is all about laying foundations and nothing is more foundational to the Christian faith
than the Bible. So we wanted the GO! preschool lessons to include an experience that gives
preschoolers a sense of awe and wonder for the Bible. Alas...the Super Duper Bible Box. Every
week, before telling the Bible story, preschoolers will say their special Bible words:
Upon saying the special words, the storyteller will flip on the light inside the Super Duper Bible
Box and the Bible will appear out of the darkness. Be prepared for a chorus of preschooler
"oohs" and "aahs."
The front of the box has a window cut out with a special one-way mirrored film in it. When the
light in the box is turned off, the paper is reflective like a mirror. But when the light is turned on,
the paper becomes transparent and the Bible appears.
The Super Duper Bible Box will be used every week in GO! for preschoolers, so don’t feel bad
about taking the time to make it extra special!
Step 2: Use a razor to cut open a window on the front. I left a 1½-inch frame.
Step 4: Cut a giant X across the wrapping paper in the window. Trim it, fold it over the edge of
the window, and tape it down.
Step 6: Cut a piece of one-way mirrored film slightly larger than the window. Tape it securely
over the window inside of the box. Make it as smooth and taut as possible.
Step 8: It’s time to give it a try. Stand your Bible upright on a table. I used a couple of other
Bibles as a base to set my display Bible higher-up. Place the Super Duper Bible Box over the
top of the Bible. When the lights are off, you won’t be able to see inside the box. Turn the lights
on and watch as the Bible appears. Use an extension cord with a foot switch to make it even
easier. (The picture doesn’t quite do it justice. It looks even better in person.)
