Phases
I. In 2008 the first 40 Classmate Computers was delivered by Intel, to prove the feasibility
of use in schools. In the same year, Venezuela & Portugal signed a cooperation
agreement based on Oil Commerce.

II. In 2009 Government of Venezuela and Portugal sign an Agreement to delivery the
Classmate produce in Portugal as Magallanes which are now renamed in Venezuela as
“Canaimita”. A private consortium on Portugal(Yaetsu) formed by Prologica, the IT
Company and JP Sa Cuoto, the manufacturing plant with Intel's Licence, will be the
manufacturer.
In Venezuela the project has two modes:
1. Canaima education goes to school, launched in September 2009. Means that the school
laptops are under guard of mobile cabinets campuses where batteries are charging, are
transported to the desks of students in 1st grade, and by a device wireless connect to
the teacher computer, forming a living network.
2. Canaima goes home education, launched in October 2010. It is intended to give each
student 2nd through 6th grade school with a laptop educational content available to full-
time it at school or home and share with family.

III. In 2011 initiates the studies to begin to produce this computer in Venezuela. Telecom
from Ministry of Industry will begin the construction of the “Canaimita” manufacturing
plant in La Carlota. (Industria Nacional Canaima)
