 Inter-Disciplinary approach to education
We are living in a world which is becoming increasingly integrated. Our
society has become open to exploration of possible crossovers between
seemingly unrelated fields, which upon close investigation reveal many
connections and similarities.

 Education is not only learning about academic subjects but it also

needs to cultivate an integrated outlook on life. In real life situations,
our brain is not compartmentalized and we think in a holistic way.
Therefore contemporary themes relating to real life situations,
combining the content of different subjects and prodding children to
notice connections between the topics they study at school and the
matters related to real life have been taken up.
 Through Newspaper in Education (NIE) programmes , teachers
encourage students to incorporate contemporary issues/matters into
their lessons (Sample attached).

 Steps to be followed for execution of inter-disciplinary activity:

a) Students will collect information on the given themes in a spirit
of joyful learning.
 b) They will then analyse, synthesize and harmonize links
between disciplines in a coherent manner.
c) They will articulate their observations through different
approaches such as mathematical, historical, geographical,
scientific etc.
 Aesthetics is an essential element of education. It stimulates
children’s senses in the form of visual and performing arts.
Sensitivity to aesthetics makes class room transactions more joyful
and creative. From sensitivity springs goodness, love and
compassion.
Students will integrate art in its various forms in their inter-disciplinary
projects.
