In year 2011, small and marginal farmers of Nashik district, Maharashtra started a company, a company
owned by them Sahyadri farmer producer company. Today Sahyadri Farmer Producer Company is India’s
largest grape exporter. Sahyadri has more than 400 farmer as shareholders and professional management
to handle its operations. Sahyadri farmer Producer Company solved problems like lack of agro
advisory, lack of quality agro inputs, fragmented supply chain, poor cold storage facility, high post-
harvest losses and exploitation by multiple intermediaries. The methodology taken for case study is
ethnographic study.
