EXPERIMENT #1

DENSITY OF H2O
 Procedure
1. Weigh dry empty beaker.
2. Measure 25 ml of H20 using graduated cylinder. Transfer it to the beaker.
3. Weigh the beaker with water.
4. Calculate the Mass of the Beaker.
5. Calculate the Mass of the Beaker with H2O.
6. Calculate the Mass of H2O (Mass H2O = Mass of the beaker with H2O – Mass of the
beaker).
7. Calculate the Density of H2O.

PROCESS QUESTIONS:

1. Is there any discrepancy in the volume reading between graduated cylinder and
Erlenmeyer flask?
Base on the conducted experiment, when the 75 ml of water coming from
Erlenmeyer flask is transferred into the graduated cylinder the volume of water
increases to 82 ml. Therefore Erlenmeyer flask should not be the one use for
measuring exact amount of volume because it is intended for mixing, stirring and
only for measuring approximate volume, while the graduated cylinder must be the
one to use because their tall narrow design makes for a more precise reading of
the liquid level.
2. What is the Purpose of getting the Percentage error?
The Purpose of getting percentage error is to show whether the theoretical value is
less than or greater than the actual value. Another purpose is to show how close a
theoretical value to the actual value.
3. How are you going to limit your error?
If human error is the probable cause, training on proper handling or using
apparatus, analyzing the data carefully can be a way to limit errors. Also, using of
checklist or notes could also be a choice to reduce the attrition rate of the
experiments.

CONCLUSION:

We therefore conclude that every apparatus should be use properly and accordingly to the
given experiment. Every lab apparatus has its own respective place when to use for. In
addition to that, error in a experiment could possibly happen, systematically or randomly,
therefore limiting those error could possibly lead to more accurate results in a conducted
experiment.
