THE SECRET LIFE OF THE ZOO: UNDERWATER SPECIAL C4, 8pm
Diving deep into the mysteries of the sea, this fascinating special visits the 7,500 aquatic inhabitants of Chester
Zoo. Taking care of the sea life is Hannah, who says: “Some people will walk straight past an aquarium to go
and see an orangutan, but we’ve got some of the most exciting, diverse, colourful animals in the zoo. And and
when you learn a bit more about them, you’re instantly hooked.” Fellow zookeeper Andrea adds: “Some of the
creatures look like they’re from a different planet.” She’s not wrong. We are introduced to some bizarre-looking
fish in this captivating episode in which the focus is on reproduction. Among them is Tiny Tim, a rare blind cave
fish who needs to breed to maintain the future of his species. But despite living with five females, he’s just not
feeling it. “We don’t know what gets him in the mood,” says Hannah, who has tried everything to no avail,
including replicating thunderstorms. In the end, they decide to try a revolutionary hormone treatment from
Vienna. “It’s basically fish Viagra,” says Hannah. But will it work? Elsewhere, Popeye the chalk bass is the
toughest fighter on the reef, but he has injured his eye in a scrap and now needs an urgent operation. The
pressure is on for Ophelia the Mexican lake salamander to breed because only 100 of her species are left. And
flirty young penguin Frazzle does his best to find a mate. Keeper Anne observes: “It’s a bit like Love Island here
at the moment.”

Staying silent during arguments, not being able to cook simple meals and re-telling the same old jokes and

We’ll spend 35 days, or a THIRD of our summer, staring at a screen, according to a new survey.
With warmer weather finally arriving in most parts of the country and the school year winding down to a close,

summer––and the results were staggering.
Respondents said their family will spend an average of just under six hours a day staring at smartphones,
tablets, computers, TVs and other devices - just over a third of the average 16 hour waking day.
That equates to the equivalent of 35 days of their summer or over a third of the season spent using their

The survey found that the average school kid will watch 60 movies and play 150 hours of video games
over the summer months.
But our increased reliance on screen time is impacting upon family time throughout the summer
87% of parents long to be able to take a break from their tech and do more outdoor activities with their family.

BY the age of 29 a staggering two-thirds of women believe their skin is ageing and they look old,

As they approach their 30th birthday, the three biggest vanity worries for ladies are grey hair, followed by
wrinkles and crow's feet.
But fears over the ageing process don't hit most men until six years later - at the age of 35.
Their top concerns include man boobs, thinning hair and a double chin.
Shockingly, one in six women start fretting about being over the hill by the time they're 21.
While a further one in seven become preoccupied with losing their looks at 25, the fear allegedly peaks at 29 -
the same age as Hereford singer Ellie Goulding.
It seems that turning 30 really is a marker for feeling like you are failing in every area of life, as the
survey revealed that 42% of women felt less confident about their looks when they reached the
milestone.
In stark contrast, only 5% of men worry about their looks by the time they are 25.
By 35, 62 per cent of men think they’ve ‘had it’ – the same age as singer Justin Timberlake.
All of this worrying about looks has led to around 47 per cent of women admitting they would go under

A third of men said they would also consider surgery, with a hair transplant the most appealing procedure.

In fact, researchers now say that it makes youngsters drop off faster, compared to techniques where parents

Researchers from Flinders University in Adelaide worked with 43 sets of parents with children between

One set of parents let children cry – leaving it longer and longer to go back and comfort them, another group
stayed in the room with children, and another group put them to bed as normal.
Researchers found that children left to ‘cry it out’ were falling asleep 15 minutes faster than children in other
groups.
Children left to ‘cry it out’ also woke up fewer times in the night – and slept longer.

Ready Steady Cook looks set to make a comeback, 10 years after it was axed.
Former host Ainsley Harriott and chef James Martin are reportedly in talks to help the show make a
comeback.
Confirming the news, Ainsley has said that he and James have been discussing it recently and that people are
"talking about it".
He told The Sun : "Fingers crossed they go for it. It’s a unique format and there’s nothing else on TV quite like it
– it’s so easy for people to follow. Me and James would do it, along with a raft of new chefs."
The show first aired in October 24 1994 and ran until February 2 2010.
It was first hosted by Fern Britton until 2000 and then Ainsley for the following 10 years.
Traditionally, the programme involved having two members of the public provide the competing 'red
tomato' and 'green pepper' chefs with a bag of ingredients.
Each of the chefs would then have to cook up a meal and the audience would vote for the dish they liked the
best.
There were also variations on the budget - originally it had been £5, but a Bistro Bag could be £7.50 and
a Gourmet Bag £10.
When time was called halfway through the challenge, the chefs could pick a sixth item randomly which could
wither hinder or help the chef.
There was also a celebrity version of the show which ran on BBC One and whose guests included David
Tennant, Kate Winslet, Twiggy, Fiona Bruce and Gail Porter.
A number of celebrity chefs appearing on the show included Also Zilli, James Martin, Paul Rankin, Phil Vickery
and Gino D'Acampo.

Other twitter users slammed the tweet and called for it to be deleted.
The blunder amassed more than 400 retweets before being taken down after an hour.
A spokesperson for Challenge TV said: We’re sorry for any offence caused by the post on Challenge

The formula for the perfect ‘girls’ shopping trip has been revealed
It includes two friends, one new outfit and at least a couple of glasses of wine, according to a new
study.
2 glasses of wine?
Lightweights.....
While spending the day in the shops with a friend is a tried-and-tested indulgence for most of us, there
are ways to get the most enjoyment out of it.
Women were asked what aspects of a days shopping they enjoyed the most, as well as key ingredients that
make up a great day out.
The weather should be dry but not too hot and the best time to start is 10.30am which allows time for both a
coffee stop and a boozy lunch.
It found that shopping with two other friends gave the most satisfaction and going with three others was a better
choice than just having one other person to shop with.
Getting dropped off and picked up is the least stressful means of transport and even public transport is
considered better than driving and trying to find somewhere to park.
Saturdays were voted the best day to shop, as it is a day that working women can enjoy as well as
those who have young children and can leave them with their partner on a weekend.
At the end of the trip - which should be 5pm ideally - coming home with one complete outfit or a new pair of
shoes made it the most worthwhile.
Using the other halves credit card is even better – isn’t it?!
