Guidelines: Lantern-making Competition

GUIDELINES:

1. Participants from each group/team should be at least five (5) and at most ten (10) members
for the construction of the lantern.

2. Student-participants should be officially enrolled for the second semester of the School
Year 2014-2015. All members of the group should be present during the construction.
However, if there is a need to buy the necessary materials for the construction of the
lantern, at most two (2) members will be allowed to go out at a time.

3. Each group should have one (1) faculty-moderator present for the duration of construction
(of the lantern) period. A faculty-assistant moderator can be assigned in the absence of
the moderator at any time during the construction.

4. The names of the student-participants and the faculty-moderator (and the faculty-assistant
moderator) should be given to the lantern contest Committee on or before the deadline of
the submission of the entry.

5. After the names are submitted, there should be no changing of participants unless there is
an emergency involved such as death in the immediate family, sickness (present medical
certificate) and/or student has officially dropped out.

6. Group/s who will seek the help or assistance of other people (who are not officially listed
as participants) during the period of the construction of the lantern shall be disqualified.

7. Non-Ateneo student or Non-Ateneo employees are not allowed to participate in the said
contest.

8. The materials to be used should be an artistic blend of recycled materials.

WORK PLACE:
 Each group will be assigned a particular venue or room within the college building
for the construction of the lantern. Room assignment will be done through drawing of lots.

 Construction process should be done and be completed at the assigned room only.

 Groups found to have constructed any part of the lantern outside of the assigned
room shall be disqualified.
SCHEDULE:

 Submission of the list of participants shall be on or before November 21, 2014. No


entries will be accepted after the aforementioned date. Please submit the list to the point
person.

 Four-day period is allotted for the construction of the lantern. This will start on
November 29 – December 2, 2012 3:00 pm

 The lighting of lanterns will be done on December 2, 2014 (Tuesday) at 6:30 pm.,
Assembly area will be in front of the BC building.

JUDGING OF ENTRIES:

 Judging of entries will start on December 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM and another judging
at 6:30 pm during the lighting of lanterns.

 Each of the entries will be evaluated by the judges based on the given criteria.

 The decision of the Board of Judges shall be deemed final and non-appealable.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

 Output must reflect a work of art and should exhibit originality.

 The structure must be strong to withstand weather condition

 The lantern should be reflective of the theme and of the season.

 Indigenous materials and recycled materials must be used for the Construction of
the lanterns.
 The size of the lantern should not be less than 3 feet and not more than 4 feet.

 20 points = First
 10 points = Second
 7 points = Third
 4 points = Fourth
 3 points = Fifth
