LEARNING DESIGN
INTRODUCTION
Every discipline requires certain professional skill,
one of the part of the teacher to transcend his/her
subject discipline through every is now thought
from the point of view of the learners a language
teacher is also desired to acquire these skills so that
the learners may acquire the language skills quite
comfortably. To give an effective teaching in a class
language teacher must design his lesson before
conducting a class room teaching .this learning
design in considered on of the most important
integral parts of teaching learning process.
DEFINATION OF LEARNING DESIGN
The term ‘learning design’ is often used today to describe the outcomes of the
process of designing planning and orchestrating learning activities. A learning
design is the product of deliberate plan for learning activity. Learning design
tend to exist in a variety of forms. They can be such thing s as lesson plan,
description of planned teaching and learning activities or practice models ,
generating approaches to the structuring and orchestration of learning activities.

. According to Agostinho learning design refers to the sequence and types of


activities and inter action that are selected to shape the student learning
experience. Learning design may be at the level of a subject/unit or components
with in subject.
. Koper and Oliver have defined Learning Design as application of pedagogical
model for specific learning objective ,target group and specific context or
knowledge domain.

. Thus we can design the learning design as the product of a deliberate plan for a
learning activity.
CONCEPT OF LEARNING DESIGN
Education is no longer considered as merely a craft
of delivering ready made knowledge. so the role of
the educator has been changed .so the role of
educator is-
.To create the condition for learners to learn.
.To make room bye the learning design for
providing the learner with motivation for
learning.
.To provide activities and resources and tools by
which learner would learn.
.Thus learning design acknowledges the role of
teacher as designer of learning.
OBJECTIVE OF LEARNING DESIGN
To make understanding of the aims and objectives of a lesson
.

prepared by teachers.
.To make teaching learning process purposeful and
meaningful .
.To help the teacher to make their teaching systematic .
.To make the teaching-learning process child –centric.
.To represent new knowledge in front of the learners in
sequential view.
.To raise the level of learning among learners.
.To make the continuous progress of the teacher in his/her
teaching process.
.To develop certain possibilities of the learners in term of
their desired instructional out comes.
IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING DESIGN
.The importance of learning design has been recognized
because it is now accepted principle that the role of the
teachers is not to transmit knowledge to passive students
but to structure the learner’s personal knowledge.

.Increase and enhance possibility of learning and make the


acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient
effective and appealing.
.Encourage the engagement of learners so that they learn
faster and gain deeper level of understanding.
.Share the design with other teachers and thus good
practices wiil transferred.
CONCLUSION
Learning design can be viewed as having two dimensions
process and product. As a process it involves ‘pedagogy-
grounded conceptualisation and planning’ of effective
learning experiences in particular context and content
areas. These design process is grounded on pedagogy
When it draws form learning theories and informs
teaching practice .As a product it is a plan or design
,represented in some form of documentation .This
documentation is blue print that guides development,
implementation and evaluation of the learning
experiences.
