Teacher`s` Creed

Teacher`s` Prayer
INTRODUCTION

The practical implementation of the information and strategies that

students have learned in school is what we know as practice teaching. In

and outside of school classrooms the student teachers practice what they

have learned and are supervised by teachers from the college,

cooperating teachers, and school principals.

Practice Teaching is a crucial part of every student teacher’s life

during college. Student teachers or pre-service teachers are college

students teaching under the supervision of a certified teacher in order to

qualify for a degree in education.

These certified teachers are called cooperating teachers and the

school where this teacher is working is called the cooperating school.

With the help of Sta. Rita Elementary School, I learned a lot, for me

to be equipped towards my chosen career. Experiences that I can apply in

the world of teaching. There were experiences that gave me

discouragement to continue likewise, there were also instances that gave

me inspiration and motivations to continue. Because of this school, I am

one step closer in my chosen field.

The moment a student enters the gates of the school, many doors

open for the individual. Education still happens even after the student gets

home. Education is left after schooling. We are not just teaching for the
sake of the present situations. We teach for a future generation of lifelong

learners.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The major phase of the student teaching program includes classroom

instruction, curriculum enrichment, co-curriculum participation, extension

or community work and human relation.

A list of the general objectives of student teaching follows:

1. Orient the prospective teacher with the function of the school classroom in

actual situation.

2. Familiarize him with the teaching materials and technique.

3. Acquaint him with the techniques and devices for studying learner’s

behavior and for appraising and evaluating all the phases of their growth

and development.

4. Deepen and broaden him insights into the concepts, theories, principles

and process of teaching and learning.

5. Give him with opportunity to put into practice the theories and principles

learned in the professional education courses.

6. Provide him the opportunity to develop more effective methods and

techniques of teaching.

7. Develop in him professional approaches in teaching.

8. Provide him with experiences for building school community relationship.

9. Provide him the leadership experiences in the school and in the

community.

10. Enable him to study problems beset the school.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

1. Give an opportune time for the student teacher to become familiar with the

various aspects of class work.

2. Provide her opportunities to observe how principles of learning and

teaching implemented

3. Acquaint her with the mission and the philosophy of the school and its

work, staff, physical plant, equipment and facilities.

4. Integrate meaningful concepts, theories and processes of learning with

teaching

5. Apply techniques and devices for studying learner’s behavior and for

appraising and evaluating all phases of their growth and development.

6. Acquaint her with the preparation and effective use of instructional

materials and the care and maintaining of laboratory equipment.

7. Enable to build school - community relationships.

8. Give her a chance to undergo rich varied experiences through

participation in class work and special school assignments like attending

the homeroom guidance and PTA activities, ground and room

improvement, maintaining a library and guiding student organizations or

clubs.

9. Help her develop skills in performing varied classroom activities.

10. Assist her to develop a sense of readiness and confidence in assuming

teaching responsibilities.
RATIONALE

Practice Teaching is the key phase and the most important

experience in the pre-service preparation of future teachers. As a valuable

component of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor

of Secondary Education (BSEd) curriculum, it is designed to provide the

student teacher education program at the same time harness their

teaching competencies. This stage bridge theory and practice since it

provides the teachers the clinical experience in an actual school setting.

Practice Teaching is a full-semester, full-time, full-day component

of the pre-service preparation the would-be teachers. As such, it requires

full commitment and dedication from the student teacher. The primary

purpose of the practice teaching experience is to provide beginning

educators with a carefully mentored experience to develop and enhance

knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to positively impact student

learning and development.

Every year college seniors head into public and private schools to

undergo practice teaching. They bring with them their dreams for a

successful career in teaching. Many student teachers are aware that they

must face challenges as they go out of the college campus for practice

teaching. One of these challenges is the match between student teacher

and cooperating teacher. In addition to this, the practice teaching

experience demands skills such as time management skills, balancing

theories that they have learned and actual teaching practice. They must

now apply what they have learned and actual teaching practice. They

must now apply what they have learned in professional education courses

in designing practical classroom activities. Establishing rapport with

students but not sacrificing discipline becomes a challenge for student

teachers.

No single criterion or set of academic qualification has predicted

reliably whether an undergraduate in teacher education will be success or

a failure as a teacher. The wisdom of practice has identified some factors

conducive to successful teaching such as academic ability and

achievement, physical and mental health, attitude, social skills, and

genuine interest in working with children and youth. These factors will be

identified in evaluation in each student teacher to the extent possible

during the process of teacher preparation which includes practice teaching

under the guidance of a cooperating teacher and the college student

teaching supervisor.
A TEACHER’S CREED

I believe I have been called by God to teach

I believe in children...

Young and old... black and white...

Rich and poor, each in need of learning.

I believe in blackboards, chalk dust, textbooks and computers.

For each has a part in imparting knowledge

I believe the love I give to my students will someday be reflected in their

lives.

I believe the gift of teaching is not measured simply by marks.

Enrolment, or the end of the school year,

It is the witness I give the fullness of life live by those I teach.

I believe I have the power to lead those in need of learning

To the threshold of their own minds.

I believe in my giftedness to use each of the tools available no matter how

New or old...For the light of knowledge

In the eyes of another is my goal.

I believe teaching is more than test, diplomas,

Paper works and fund raising.

It is the values I breathe daily

Into another... slowly

It is in the faith I share in Jesus...

Every charging and growing... never ending.

I believe in my success today goes unnoticed...

Until those I teach and touch can stand alone and say “in my life I have

learned...”

I believe if I have taught and touched one person...

In God’s name...

I have used my gift to me justly...

And can humbly say...I believe in teaching...

I AM A TEACHER
TEACHER’S PRAYER

I believe that each of my students is your child.

I believe that they are a reflection of your love.

I believe that each child possesses special gifts and talents,

that you are entrusting me to help them discover these gifts

and nurture those talents.

I believe that each child is trying to find you,

And that I can be a model of how to look,

How to live, how to pray.

I believe that my job is actually a mission, a ministry;

That you have chosen me in this time and in this place

To be there for these kids.

I believe that there is nothing haphazard about my day,

About my experiences with my students or with their parents.

It is all part of your plan.

I believe that you have chosen me, Lord.

I believe.

Santa Rita

HISTORY OF SANTA RITA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Sta. Rita is one of the twenty (20) municipalities of the province of

Pampanga. It is located in the western part of the province: bounded on

the north by the municipality of porac, on the east of Bacolor and on the

south of Guagua, all municipalities of Pampanga. It is approximately

fourteen (14) kilometers for the City of San Fernando, and accessible

through the Jose Abad Santos Avenue/Higway (Formerly Olongapo –

Gapan Road). The first records available about Santa Rita were in 1607. It

was stated that Sta. Rita was once a part of the Municipality of Porac. It

was formely a wilderness where huge tress grew in abundance. Sta Rita

was first formed by the clearings and settlement made at a place called

“Gasac”, now known as San Isidro. Sta Rita was separated to Porac and

became an independent town in 1770. The town was earlier referred to as

Sta. Rita de Lele or neighboring Sta. Rita and Sta. Rita Baculud due to its
proximity to the town of Baculud known as Bacolor. Sometimes between

1904 and 1907, there was an attempt to annex Sta. Rita to Bacolor but

due to the intervention of Don MagnoGosioco and Dr. BasilioOcampo and

protests made by concerned citizens the move did not materialized. The

people of Sta.Rita were known to be of the best agriculturists and strong

farmers in Pampanga. They were the first to adopt the native deep

plowing system of furrowing to the depth of more than 12 inches for

planting sugarcane points form locally as simberga. Aside from being one

of the best in agriculture, Sta. Rita during the earlier times had the best

Brass Band in Pampanga.

Sta. Rita is comprised of ten barangays. Three barangays compose the

Urban Center of Sta. Rita which are San Vicente, San Jose and part of

San Matias. San Vicente serves as the minor Business District where the

public market and Sta. Rita Elementary school, which was the first public

school in Sta. Rita. According to tradition handed down the pioneering

families of the barrios were the Aysons, Manalacs, Dela Cruz, Passions,

Guanzons, Davids, Mirandas and the Gosiocos. These families gradually

expanded and in the course of time the barrio was formally organized.

This took place in the year 1770 when Spanish friar by the name Fr.

Vicente EstaquioPolina took the initiative of organizing the place into

political unit, the barrio. He named it after the patron saint of the place,

San Vicente Ferrer. In the place where the Sta. Rita Elementary School

was erected, a cockpit arena formerly occupied the place which has
planned in such ways that it served as a convertible theater. It was then

the town’s intellectual amusement. It was here were zarzuelas, comedies

and passion plays were held and shown. This lasted until the early part of

the American regime. When zarzuelas, comedies and passion plays were

gradually losing appeal in favor of the fast growing cinema industry. As

Americans took over, establishments of schools to improve education

were made. It is the initiative of the clan of the Guanzon and with the help

of the American government the Sta. Rita Elementary School was

established in 1890’s. It was felt by the family that every citizen of the

barrio would be educated. Being the first public school in the municipality,

it was named in honor of the town’s patron saint, St. Rita. The school has

a land area of 10,648 square meters. There are no concrete evidences on

the history of the school from 1890’s to the 1910’s through it was said that

during the first year of establishment the school catered to primary levels

only.

As the school was recognize by the Americans, a Gabaldon

Building was constructed in 1919. Gabaldon Building was a complex

containing nine classrooms, a library, a property room, a principal’s office

and an assembly hall. The Gabaldon was made of concrete posts and

wooden walls. This setup was used to complement the elementary school

training given by the American volunteer teachers, known as Thomasites.

With the construction of the building, it was also believe that the first

teachers of the school were Americans. Being the only existing school in
the municipality, the enrolment continued to increase which led to the

organization of the intermediate levels which was then until the seventh

grade. It was in 1941 when Grade Seven was abolished.

Among the pioneer teachers of the school were Mrs. Juana Lansang, Mr.

Marcelo Songco, Ms. Feliza Fernandez, Mr. Reyes David, Mr. Catalino

Martin, Jacita Valencia, FelicisimoLumba, Abelado De Dios and Mr.

Aurelio Fernandez among others. The school was recognize by the then

Bureau of Public Schools which provided the salary of the teachers. The

World War II in 1942 did not stop the children of Sta. Rita in going to

school. Classes were continuously done through it was shortened and

some parts of the curriculum were not allowed to be discussed. Right after

the World War II more children from the town enrolled in the school. With

the lack of classroom, classes then were housed at the residence of the

Miranda’s, Ocampo’s, Ricafort’s and where the Municipal Health Center is

now located. In the early 1940’s an Industrial Room was put up at the

back part of the school to prepare the male pupils the needed man –

power skills which they can be used in the future. In 1947, the

Administration building was built adjacent to the Gabaldon. The building

was donated by the family of the late Don Manuel Guanzon through the

proposal of Mr. Morales, the then supervisor of the district. The said

building was named after Don Manuel. The two –story building served as

the supervisor’s office.

In the early 1950’s a semi-concrete H.E Room was constructed to provide

the needs of the female school children how to properly run a family

environment and make the world a better place for generations to come.

In 1970’s a five- classroom building was constructed due to the growing

population of the school. The rooms are now being used by the Grade

One pupils. The next decade, the 80s, ushered in the construction of four

more building around the school which is now being used by Grade Two

to Five pupils. As education evolves additional rooms for Science, Math

and Reading Rooms were established. A clinic was also provided for

students to give first aid in case of sickness and accidents. The 90s,

began with the improvement of H.E Rooms was transferred to a new

concrete building at the back of the Grade Three Room which is more

modern and advanced in the teaching of H.E. The old H.E building was

converted as a school canteen. The concrete fence between the

SapangMaragul and the school was erected due to the arising of the water

level in the river during rainy days.

As changes in physical facilities so as in the academic, pupils had

excelled in various contests which brought the school awards and honors

and the making it a performing school. With the hardworking teachers,

pupils of Sta. Rita Elementary School represented the district in different

academic and non – academic contests in different level. In June 1994, a

satellite school was set up for Grades One and Two in San Matias, Sta

Rita to accommodate children coming from the barrio. In school 2002 –

2004, the school, was separated from SRES and was named San Matias

Elementary School. In 2000 more changes happened in the school,

repainting and remodeling of classrooms were made with the help of PTA

officers and some kind – hearted alumni of the school. More renovations

were made on dilapidated buildings to make the school more child-

friendly. In March 2011, the Gabaldon Building was renovated and most of

its wooden walls were made to concrete to ensure the safety of the

children. It was initiated by Dr. Victoria Tayao, the supervisor of the district

and Mr. AngelitoManiego, the principle of the school and was funded by

the provincial government. At present, the school continuously soars high

for quality education to produce graduates who are globally competitive.

With its twenty seven (27) classroom teachers and two (2) subsidized Dep

Ed Pre – Ed Pre – Elem teachers headed by an Elementary School

Principal III, the school mission and vision will be gradually realized.

When a object such as radio makes a

sound, it sends vibrations through the

ear canal and hit the eardrum. These
vibrations cause the hammer, anvil and

these three bones move, they also
cause the fluid inside the cochlea to
vibrate. Then, the cilia in the inner ear
change the vibrations into the nerve
signals which are sent to the brain

interprets the nerve signals and tells the
sound you hear.

Sending Off

After the sending off, the four student-teachers were endorsed by Mrs.
Donezza Mariano to the school principal in Sta. Rita Elementary School.

I was assigned in Grade V - Aquino and my cooperating teacher is Mrs.

Marites S. David. Hopefully, I will be able to enjoy my learnings inside the four
corners of the classroom.

Tomorrow will be my real first day as a teacher. My cooperating teacher

gave me the teacher’s manual so that I will be able to have an idea on what are
the lessons that I will going to teach.

First day as a real teacher

November 25, 2016

This is it! The first day of my Practice Teaching in Santa Rita Elementary School.
As I enter in the gate of the school, many thoughts came up in my mind, but
despite of my fears I said to myself that I CAN DO THIS! I am excited but a little
bit nervous that time. I knew that a new challenge was waiting for me.. My first
impression with the pupils is that they were disciplined because as I enter the
classroom, they were very quiet and they all approached me. My cooperating
teacher is kind. I think I will learn a lot from her. We are starting to get to know
each other.

Observation to my pupils

November 28, 2016

I am adjusting the situations from this time. I observed well the pupils, their
personalities and behaviors. There are some students who are naughty and
attention seeker. At that time I am thinking how to manage them properly
because they are 41 pupils. My cooperating teacher knows how to control the
pupils, she said to me that if the pupils make a not so good attitude, teacher must
correct and discipline the students as early as can be so that they will know that
they were doing the wrong things. Hopefully I learn more about the classroom
management in everyday that we meet.

November 29, 2016

ESP

I teach the pupils the ESP (EdukasyonsaPagpapakatao). They learned how to

identify an act if it is right or wrong. I also gave an example according to their
everyday experiences so that they are able to understand more the lessons.

November 30, 2016

Bonifacio Day

There are no classes because today is a holiday. Bonifacio Day!

Pang-Uri

December 1, 2016

At the time of 7: 45 – 8:25, my cooperating was her vacant time because her
advisory class transferred in other room for the EPP subject. While the pupils
was not around, I cleaned the room and arranged the chairs. And then, at 8:45-
9:45, the subject was Filipino for the V- Quezon which is the model section. My
cooperating teacher discussed the Pang- Uri which is their topic for this day.

Health Corner

December 2, 2016

On Monday, there will be visitors who will check the health corner of the
classroom that’s why my cooperating teacher and I did some general cleaning.
We also arranged the chairs which can make the learning more conducive. I also
reminded them that cleaners for the day must do their job because I noticed that
some of the cleaners don’t help the others. I help them clean the room since they
are young and there are still dirt left that need to be removed. It is one way of
developing their sense of responsibility. I told them that they must not escape
their responsibilities.

Pagpapangkat ng Pang-Uri

December 5, 2016

I arrived in school at 7: 20 am, I let and asked the pupils to clean their respective
part. After the flag ceremony, they transferred to Sir Marlon for the EPP. While

cooperating teacher asked me to discuss the Pagpapangkat ng Pang-Uri. I
teach it to the V –Quezon, they are all participating in the discussion and after
that I gave them an activity, they immediately finish it. As days passed by, I am
used to stand in front of the pupils.

Ang Paru Paro

December 6, 2016

Mrs. David had a meeting for the preparation on the earthquake drill which will be
held tomorrow so I took charge on the lessons. I gave them a quiz bee and the
pupils enjoyed the activity. I also let them read the Ang Paru Paro and answered
the comprehension questions afterwards. I admit that I am really having a hard
time in managing the whole class. There are 34 pupils in Grade V – Aquino

Ang Makulit na Unggoy

December 7, 2016

Grade V - Macapagal are very attentive while I tell a story which is all about Ang
Makulit na Unggoy. I noticed that they all love stories that’s why the pupils
always ask me to read one. I just love how their eyes look at me while I read a
story and I can see that they are very attentive. The learners answered the
questions afterwards but sad to say, they are not able to answer the questions
correctly even though I know that they have listened very well. But I think what a
matter most is that they learned the value of the story.

Ang Buwaya at ang matalinong Unggoy

December 8, 2016

Since they love listening to stories, I have shared to them the story of Ang
Buwaya at ang matalinong Unggoy. Before I started the lesson, I asked the
pupils first if they have a friend and after saying the name, they have to hug
him/her if he/she is inside the classroom because the story has something to do
with friendship. They all enjoyed the motivation and they hugged their friends. I
was surprised when one of my pupils considered me as a friend and she hugged
me and the rest of the class followed. We made a group hug and while hugging
them, I said to myself that these pupils are my treasures.

Quiz bee

December 9, 2016

I review the V- Aquino in their past lesson in Filipino. I told them to listen carefully
because we will be having a quiz bee afterwards. I discussed the important
details in their past lesson. I prepared multiple choice test for them to answer. I
group them in four group and told the instruction in doing the activity, also I told
them that I will plus points to the winner. As I reading the questions, they are
attentive and all of them want to win. This was one of the strategy that I learned
in our previous subject. The pupils may thought that they were only playing, but
through this they may also learned. The pupils enjoyed and learned at the same
time.

things that they don’t know. After that, we gave them a lecture in English subject.
While the pupils copy the lecture, my cooperating teacher told me that, teaching
is fun, especially when the pupils got high scores in their performance. According

the final requirements in Physics.

THANK YOU and SORRY

February 23, 2017

I came to the school with a smile because at last I surpass the final
demonstration, but at the same time I feel sad because it is time to leave the
school, especially the pupils. Even if they are hard headed and sometime they
are noisy I would like to give thanks to them for being part of my practice
teaching. I learn from them that we should be happy even in a small things. I
gave them a paper and let them to write a message to me. Two words that came
from them was “THANK YOU” and “SORRY”. It was a simple words but I know
that it sincere coming from them. Some of the messages touched me and I am
glad that they have learned something from me. I will surely miss my kids and I
thank God for giving me a chance to impart my knowledge with them.

Last Day of Practice Teaching

February 24, 2017

It was my last day in the SRES. Within the three months that I am in my
cooperating school, I learned and experience a lot especially in handling pupils.
In this practice teaching, it helped me to build my self-confidence. It was a good
start for me to see the real world of teaching. My practice teaching experience
brought me so much memory. I had experience to become a real teacher. I
became more responsible with my duties as a student teacher. Practice teaching
is where I had learned a lot of things which had helped me to improve. Practice
teaching is where I developed my good personality as a teacher. My off-campus
teaching gave me another teaching learning experience. I have learned to be
patience at the bottom of my heart. I have also learned to love the pupils who are
very naugthy. My off-campus teaching gave learning that I can bring to my future
field of teaching. I can say that teaching is the hardest job among of all jobs but
the payment of this job is priceless.
