Model Nova
Objectives and the Main Research Themes

Overall objective of the work package:

Collaboration, work practices, processes and business models based

on BIM and an operating culture that provide added value and
promote sustainability and responsibility across the value network as
well as throughout the life-cycle of the built environment.

Challenges of collaborative design
• Working separately
• Exchange of information and decision making
• Lack of overall expertise
• Contracts
• Old fashioned process

Knotworking – what is it?
• KNOTWORKING is
• a Novel BIM-based collaboration
practice
• a temporally short and organizationally
loose effort of multifaceted experts
designing or problem solving towards a
shared target
• The most competent and appropriate
experts are assembled
• can be pre-planned or organized when
needed
• NOTE! Knotworking is working, not
sitting in meetings!
