The Discovery of Fire

The discovery of fire was one of the most important discoveries in the human race, it is also
considered as one of mankind`s first great innovations. Fire allowed our ancestors to produce
light and heat, to cook animals and plants, to clear forest for planting, it also helped them in
making stone tool, also in burning clay to form ceramic objects. Fire has social purposes as well.
Fires serve as the source of heat and light in gathering places, and used as beacons to easily track
the way home.

On the earlier ages of warfare, fire became very important, they use fire to forge
metals into swords, spears, shield, armors and a lot of very useful weapons and devices.
Blacksmiths grew in numbers that time, and many empires were equipped with weapons.

Fire also became the power of vehicles, the fire engine was created. Thomas Lote built
the first fire engine made in America in 1743. These earliest engines are called hand tubs
because they are manually powered and the water was supplied by a bucket brigade dumping it
into a tub where the pump had a permanent intake pipe. Land transportations were advanced into
various ways and aircrafts were also invented. Fire also provided power for ships, just by
burning coals and other combustibles can make a ship move from a place to destinations.

Fire was ever useful but at the same time very harmful, many innovations sprouted in
making living easier with the use of fire, but fire also made the warfare more harmful and
devastating.
