The coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave man only once. A Sikh is a
brave man; he subdues his fear and bravely faces danger. Fearlessness is a
virtue of a Sikh. He sheds worldly desires - a Sikh doesn‟t even entertain the

Update on renovation
Central Sikh Temple
The upgrading of Central Sikh Temple (CST) is now going "full
steam ahead" and the completion of the Darbar Hall is expected by Entrance
November 2010. With the extension of the Darbar Hall, an
additional 150 devotees can be accommodated. The extension is
made possible with the reconfiguration of the entrance. The former
two staircases have been removed to create space for a spacious
lobby which is designed in such a manner that it can hold the
Milne Ceremony indoors.
The new lift can accommodate 20 devotees and will be fully opera-
tional by the end of October 10 and the announcements at Pool
each level will be both in English and Punjabi.

Finally, the Pool has a new design with the five sprinklers arranged
in a circle. Unlike the former pool which had to be filled with water
each time, when needed. The new Pool has a fixture with
permanent water. This design of the pool will truly enhance the
ambience of the Darbar Sahib.
Donation to Guru Ji is like planting the seed for Guru Ji to give you
much more blessings in life.
We appeal to all those
who have not
participated in this Darbar hall ceiling
opportunity to make
generous donation.

A tribute to an extraordinary Sikh woman - the first woman cabby

“When my husband had an accident and could not drive again, I had to take over as
breadwinner. I did not cry or feel sorry for myself. I turned to taxi driving to support the family.
I will continue to drive a taxi until my daughter and son are married and have set up their homes.
I must succeed in everything I do. Then I have done my duty as a mother”
She saw to it that her son Parvinder Singh, had university education in New Zealand and her
daughter Sarbinder Kaur, completed her Secretarial course.
Manjit Kaur passed away on 20 Aug 2003.
