Mindful Leadership
(In context to how, “boss can be a good leader”)

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to better understand the relationship between mindfulness and behavioral
flexibility in leaders. “Mindfulness is the process of deliberately paying attention to the present moment in
a nonjudgmental way,” says Kabat-Zinn.

Findings:
The research suggest that by developing mindfulness, managers might be better able to adapt their
leadership style to the demands of different situations. To that end, this way will help manager to show his
creative mind skills in how he can deal in every stage, particularly in the context of leadership
development programs. Mindfulness includes openness to multiple points of view and a focus on process
rather than outcome.
It is more about being in touch with who you already are than about improving yourself, according to
Brusman. “You’re developing a profound sense of honesty — the strongest foundation for genuine
leadership, which creates authenticity in your efforts to lead others.”

By this research we can say, manager needs to be more flexible in taking decisions at each stage this can
be achieved by adopting Mindful strategy in his life this will help him personally and professionally, as he
can discover what he is and what are his weak points and improve on particular areas.

We can relate this theory of how a manager provide his attention to his employees in all decisions and
adopting this theory and moving in one boat to one goal with all support of his team. This mindful theory
will help anyone to move forward as it teaches to stay calm, know ourselves better, and to get to know
others as well so that Employer and Employee relationships build strong and this could help to achieve
goals of the organization.

Originality/value:
While most models of leadership assume a linear relationship between certain leadership behaviors and
performance, other voices suggest that effective leaders need to possess great behavioral flexibility so that
they can adapt with agility to the multiple needs of the people and situations around them. Few studies have
examined the factors that may play a role in leadership flexibility.
