To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the possibility of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach the negative (-) battery cable last. + Disconnect the batteries. See equipment manufacturer service information + Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) crossover tube. Refer to Procedure 011-070 in Section 11 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/173/173-011-070- ‘r-prix 13.htm) + Remove the rocker lever cover. Refer to Procedure 003-011 in Section 3. Do not tighten or bottom adjusting screw against lever. Engine damage can occur. Loosen the valve adjusting screw locknuts on each rocker lever. Turn the adjusting screws counterclockwise until the rocker levers are loose. AXCAUTION A Use care when handling shafts. Rocker levers can fall off the shaft during removal and damage the levers. | — —____J Remove the valve and brake rocker lever shaft capscrews, and the rocker lever shaft assemblies. Remove the valve crossheads. If an engine does not have engine brakes installed, a spacer is installed in the place of a brake lever. Remove the rocker levers and brake levers from the shafts, Remove the rocker lever spacers from the shaft, if present, Remove the locknuts and the adjusting screws from the rocker levers. To prevent increased wear, mark each adjusting screw || as it is removed so it can be installed back in the original rocker lever. Clean and Inspect for Reuse AXWARNING A When using a steam cleaner, wear safety glasses or| a face shield, as well as protective clothing. Hot steam can cause serious personal injury.
