SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 9

I. Objectives
a. Define rectangle;
b. Illustrate the theorems of rectangle;
c. Prove theorems on rectangles;
d. Appreciate the importance of understanding theorems of rectangle.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Theorems of Rectangle
Reference: Mathematics Learners; Materials 9, pp. 322-324
Materials: books, chalk, bond paper, protractor, ruler, pencil and compass.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Checking of Attendance
c. Review
d. Motivation
The teacher will give a starting activity that will lead to the topic.
B. Lesson Proper
a. Activity
The students will be divided into three groups. Each group will be
given a task. The students will do the given procedure and will answer the
given questions.
Procedure:
1. Mark two points O and P that are 10 cm apart.
2. Draw parallel segments from O and P which are 6 cm each, on the
same side of OP and are perpendicular to OP.
3. Name the endpoints from O and P as H and E, respectively, and draw
HE.
4. Draw the diagonals of the figure formed.

b. Analysis
Each group will choose one representative to post and report their
output. The teacher will follow – up questions and clarifications.
c. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss further the topic and give more examples.
d. Application
The students will prove the theorems on rectangles.
IV. Evaluation
