ADDITIONAL PRAYERS AFTER COMMUNION

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever. Amen.

Suscipe (by St. Ignatius Loyola)

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.
Prayer for Vocations

God, in Baptism you called me by name

and made me a member of your people, the Church.
Help all your people to know their vocation in life,
and to respond by living a life of holiness.
For your greater glory and for the service of your people,
raise up dedicated and generous leaders
who will serve as sisters, priests, brothers, deacons, and lay ministers.
Send your Spirit to guide and strengthen me
that I may serve your people
following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ,
in whose name I offer this prayer.
Amen.

Wash Me with Your Precious Blood (by St Peter Canisius)

See, O merciful God, what return

I, your thankless servant, have made
for the innumerable favors
and the wonderful love you have shown me!
What wrongs I have done, what good left undone!
Wash away, I beg you, these faults and stains
with your precious blood, most kind Redeemer,
and make up for my poverty by applying your merits.
Give me the protection I need to amend my life.
I give and surrender myself wholly to you,
and offer you all I possess,
with the prayer that you bestow your grace on me,
so that I may be able to devote and employ
all the thinking power of my mind
and the strength of my body in your holy service,
who are God blessed for ever and ever. Amen.
Prayer to St. Ignatius (by Jonathan Vigliaturo)
St. Ignatius,
You who helped evangelize and spread the Great Message,
Who was able to refocus your life,
In troublesome times for yourself,
On the most important being in life.
Help us follow in your footsteps,
Through the long and troubling task,
Of refocusing ourselves on the almighty one,
God, our savior.
Amen.

Prayer for Generosity

Lord, teach me to be generous.

Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.

Friendship with the Lord (by Joseph Tetlow, SJ)

Lord Jesus,
you invited ordinary people like me to see where you lived.
You welcomed them and asked them to work and rejoice with you.
You are the greatest person who ever lived
and I hardly believe you want me for your friend.
Draw me more and more into your friendship
And lead me along your way which brings deep and lasting happiness. Amen
Prayer of Thanksgiving (by Adrian Porter, SJ)

We thank you, God our Father,

for the shelter and comfort of our homes;
for the love and companionship of our family and friends;
for our health, and our many gifts and abilities;
and for all the blessings which we take for granted.
Hear our prayer for all who are less fortunate than we are
and bless those who work to help them.
For Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

Prayer for Our Earth

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe

and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
hat we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle
for justice, love and peace.

Prayer for Detachment (by St Peter Faber)

I beg of you, my Lord,

to remove anything which separates me from you, and you from me.
Remove anything that makes me unworthy of your sight, your control, your
reprehension; of your speech and conversation, of your benevolence and love.
Cast from me every evil that stands in the way of my seeing you, hearing, tasting,
savouring, and touching you; fearing and being mindful of you; knowing, trusting,
loving, and possessing you; being conscious of your presence and, as far as may be,
enjoying you. This is what I ask for myself and earnestly desire from you. Amen.

Prayer for Jesuit Vocation

Father,
in the name of Jesus,
through the power of your Holy Spirit,
we pray that You inflame the hearts of men
with courage and trust
and the desire to labor for Your kingdom
as Jesuits.
We ask You
through the intercession of Mary, our Mother,
St. Ignatius, and all Your saints,
to bless the Society of Jesus
with bountiful vocations
that it may continue to serve Your Church
with passion and zeal.
May your will be done.
Amen.

Be with Us Today (by St. Thomas More)

Father in heaven,
you have given us a mind to know you,
a will to serve you,
and a heart to love you.
Be with us today in all that we do,
so that your light may shine out in our lives.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Grace to Follow Jesus (by St Richard Chichester)

Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us,
for all the pains and insults
which you have borne for us.
Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
day by day. Amen.

Prayer to Renew the World

Merciful God,
hear our prayer for a world that will respect the God-given rights of all.
We dedicate ourselves to work for the rights of each human person,
especially for those who find life a burden
and who know the suffering of hatred, poverty and war.
Help us to share the fire of your peace with all people in all places at all times. Amen

Prayer for Peace and Justice

Lord,
lead us from death to life,
from falsehood to truth.
Lead us from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Let peace fill our hearts, our world and our universe.
Let us dream together, pray together and work together,
to build one world of peace and justice for all. Amen.
