To assess the pattern of mortality in rural area


OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

• To study cause-specific mortality of major groups.


• To study age-specific mortality rate in rural areas.
• To determine the socio-demographic and fequency distribution of mortality in
rural areas.
• Socio-demographic factors associated with underfive mortality in rural areas.
• To prepare a life table for rural areas.
• To compare mortality pattern with national mortality pattern.s
6.5 METHODOLOGY
• RESEARCH APPROACH

Descriptive survey approach will be adopted for the study.

• RESEARCH DESIGN

Non-experimental descriptive design will be used to assess the mortaliy


pattern in rural areas / community based longitudinal / cohort study.

• SETTING OF THE STUDY


In Juridiction of the Kasegaon Sangli District Maharashtra state.

• POPULATION

6.6 CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF SAMPLES

• INCLUSION CRITERIA
Sample who are :
a) Permanent resident of Kasegaon Village.
b) All the family residing at Kasegaon village for more than six month
and present during the period of study.
c) Are willing to paricipate in the study.

• EXCLUSION CRITERIA
Sample who are:
a) Temporarary resident of kasegaon village.
b) Migrated from other place and less than six months during the period
of study.
c) Are not willing to participate in the study.

• SAMPLE SIZE
The sample size of the study will be approximately 30000 to 35000

• SAMPLE
6.7 METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
After an extensive review of literature and discussion with experts the semi-strctured
interview schedule will be prepared to assess the age – specific mortality rate in rural
areas. Formal permission will be obtained from concerned authority. Authorities will be
assured of an anonymity and confidentility.

6.8 PLAN FOR DATA ANALYSIS


The collected data will be analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics.

• DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS
To describe the demographic data and cause and age- specific by frequency
and percentage distribution of pattern of mortality rate in rural areas.

• INFERENTIAL STATISTICS
With the help of suitable statistical test will be used.

6.9 EHTICAL CLEARANCE


No intervention to study subject only official permission will be obtained from the
institutinal authority before study and informal consent will be taken from the
participant.
