Data Flow

ƒ Automatic data flow

ƒ Definition of data sources and sinks using
Toolbox II (OPM II)
ƒ Automatic data flow within and between the
automation units
ƒ For more complex applications,
also “selective data flow routing”
is possible using Toolbox II (OPM II).
ƒ Combinations are possible as well.

Automatic Data Flow

ƒ Basic Concept

ƒ Any routing to data sinks is handled by the Toolbox (periphery, third-

party systems, CAEx plus, system functions)

ƒ Data exchange within and between the automation units is learned

automatically by ACP 1703 (“self-learning data flow”)

Automatic Data Flow

ƒ General Conditions

ƒ For each data point, an address that is unique throughout the network
must be parameterized.
ƒ Address structure in accordance with IEC60870-5-3, however, in byte
structure (CASDU1, CASDU2, IOA1, IOA2, IOA3).
ƒ Binary information, measured values, integrated totals are to be
parameterized in a source-addressed format
ƒ Commands, setpoint values must be destination-addressed
(IEC 60870-5 compliant),
i.e., commands have the same CASDU1, CASDU2 as pertinent binary
information.

Automatic Data Flow

ƒ Functions in the Destination System

ƒ Connections set to “control direction” transmit only messages in control

direction (commands, setpoint values) whose CAASDU matches the
binary information received
(Æ commands have a destination address).

ƒ In the case of connections set to “monitor direction”, the control

direction function applies, and, in addition, all messages in monitoring
direction (binary information, measured values, etc.) are transmitted.

ƒ Connections set to “both directions” transmit all messages, no matter

what their address.

ƒ The data flow is constantly being learned. New data do not require a
reset.

Data Flow Filters

have the option of defining filters.

Selective Data Flow

In multi-hierarchical networks, it may happen that even filter rules cannot

cope with all existing needs.
For such cases, the so-called selective data flow has been provided.
It is possible to mix automatic and selective data flows.
