Active mechanical image stabilization system for drones

The vibrations of the drone add noise to the images captured by it during
its flight. There are various methods available to stabilize the image digitally
and reduce the effect of vibrations on the captured image. However, these
methods only work for a particular range of frequency and amplitude of
vibrations. There is need for a system which is more robust and works for
a broader range of vibrations. This can be achieved through mechanical
stabilization which targets the cause of vibration contrary to other methods
which target the effect of vibration. The aim of this project is to develop a
mechanical stabilization system such that it isolates the camera from the drone
vibrations. This helps the camera to capture images with low noise.

Optimal control design for dynamic hybrid simulation

The controller design process in dynamic hybrid simulation is simplified by
adopting impedance matching approach in which transfer system is seen
as a dynamical system equivalent to the virtual substructure. The controller
design based on impedance matching approach is formulated as a convex
optimization problem with the help of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The
implementation of impedance matching approach is experimentally verified
for a lightly damped physical substructure using electromagnetic shaker as
transfer system.
