Star Wars: The December 20, Will Rey’s parents turn out to be more than just “junkers”? Will Finn and Rose have a blooming romance? Will Poe learn
Rise of 2019 from the mistakes of his impulsive decision-making system? Will Kylo Ren get in touch with his light side? Will there be
Skywalker an angry man boycott that makes virtually no difference to the overall box office but that somehow manages to
tiresomely dominate online chatter for months either side of the film’s release?
Fast & Furious: August 2, 2019 Recognizing the star power of Dwayne Johnson, Universal decided to spin his character off from the Fast and
Hobbs & Shaw Furious franchise alongside Jason Statham for what will likely be some high-octane version of a buddy-cop action flick.
Stunt coordinator-turned-director David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2) is signed on for this one, so we
expect the action will be appropriately bonkers.
IT Chapter Two September 6, Stephen King fans who saw 2017’s IT were quick to point out that the film only tells half of the original novel’s story,
2019 namely the half that takes place when the characters are still kids. This follow-up takes place 30 years later with a grown-
up cast that includes Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader, among others, and they’re out to take down
Pennywise the shapeshifting clown (Bill Skarsgård) for good.
Joker October 4, 2019 Yes, DC and Warner Bros’ new strategy of throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks continues with the
handing over of the Clown Prince of Crime to The Hangover director Todd Phillips. He’s written the screenplay with ‘gritty
story maker for hire’ Scott Silver (8 Mile, The Fighter) and it’ll explore the transition of a humble Arthur Fleck to the
villainous smile-scratcher we all know and fear.
Zombieland October 11, It will have taken exactly 10 years, but Sony is finally giving fans a sequel to the 2009 hit horror comedy, Zombieland. All
Double Tap 2019 of the original braaaaaaiiiiinnnsss are on board, including director Ruben Fleischer (who directed the upcoming Venom)
and writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and the four key leads – Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg,
and Abigail Breslin – have all signed on. According to early reports, the movie will see the foursome taking on zombies
that have evolved since the events of the first movie.
The Addams October 18, Directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan last brought us the R-rated Sausage Party, and they look to translate some
Family 2019 of that irreverent wit to this animated version of The Addams Family, which features the voices of Oscar Isaac as Gomez
and Charlize Theron as Morticia. The art style closely resembles the original artwork by creator Charles Addams, and the
supporting cast includes a nice combination of industry vets and up-and-comers.
Maleficent: October 18, Maleficent put an interesting spin on Disney’s live-action remakes, retelling the beloved story of Sleeping Beauty through
Mistress of Evil 2019 the eyes of its iconic, and misunderstood, villain. The different take worked: Maleficent made almost $760 million
globally during its 2014 theatrical run. The sequel should also do big business. Kon Tiki director Joachim Ronning takes
over for Robert Stromberg, and Michelle Pfeiffer co-stars.
Charlie’s Angels November 1, Elizabeth Banks directs and plays Bosley in this new take on Charlie’s Angels. Banks moves further into the directing
2019 game after Pitch Perfect 2; the cast of Angels is relatively unknown, save for Stewart, whose casting indicates this film
will take on a different tone to other iterations.
Terminator: Dark November 1, Deadpool director Tim Miller takes the reins of the iconic Terminator franchise with a reboot that starts where the first two
Fate 2019 films in the series left off. (Those other film efforts are dismissed as an alternate timeline.) With James Cameron on
board as producer and both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger returning, the effort feels legit — even if it will
reportedly see Sarah Connor pass the torch to a new female lead.
Ford vs Ferrari November 15, James Mangold directs this based-on-true-events sports drama about American motor company Ford’s efforts to build a
2019 raceworthy car to rival — and hopefully defeat — the Ferrari team at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
Frozen 2 November 22, If it ain’t broke… Original directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, as well as original stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and
2019 Josh Gad, return to Arendelle to try to catch a second lightning storm in a bottle and belt out a song half as catchy as
“Let It Go.” The first teaser suggests a darker tone for the sequel.
Jumanji: December 13, Little is known about this sequel to the bigger-than-expected 2017 hit, which proved a canny bit of counterprogramming
Welcome to the 2019 to The Last Jedi during that year’s holiday moviegoing period. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle screenwriter Scott
Jungle Rosenberg is attached, as are the four leads/key avatars: Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Dwayne Johnson.

Jojo Rabbit October 18, The director’s new film sounds like a little bit of a departure for him, as he’ll star as an imaginary Hitler and hero to a 10-
2019 year old German boy who dreams of joining the Nazis. Scarlett Johannson will play his secretly anti-Nazi mother, while
Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, Rebel Wilson and Alfie Allen will all feature as people you wouldn't want to mess with
in this dark WWII comedy drama.
Lucy in the Sky Lucy In The Sky (which was at one point called Pale Blue Dot) stars Natalie Portman as an astronaut who’s been on a
mission to the stars for way, wayyy too long. Disconnected from her family and friends when she comes back to Earth,
she begins an affair with a fellow astronaut who turns out to be not exactly committed to the idea of an exclusive thang.
A fully tripped-out psychological meltdown could be in the offing, and who has better chops than the combo of Hawley
and Oscar-snatcher Portman to pull it off?
Ad Astra In Ad Astra, Brad Pitt is going to be tracking his long-lost father Tommy Lee Jones through the solar system after he
disappeared decades ago on a one-way trip to Neptune. James Gray is following up The Lost City Of Z with this, and
he’s been quoted as saying that he wants the sci-fi flick to feature "the most realistic depiction of space travel that's been
put in a movie”. Having seen his back catalogue, he’ll probably get the job done.
Hug If you're not familiar with Hug Chickenpenny, don't feel left out. Brawl In Cell Block 99 and Bone Tomahawk barnstormer
Chickenpenny S. Craig Zahler has been keeping a lot of people in the dark about the planned adaptation of his own demented book.
Jim Henson's Creature Shop picked up the rights to this all the way back in 2017, and it's been slow going ever since,
but that's what we love about puppets, man - we get older, they stay the same age. Hell, this may not even end up
materialising in 2019, but we want to be mentally prepared if it does.
Glass M. Night Shyamalan’s superhero thriller reteamed Unbreakable’s Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson with
newer Split villain James McAvoy as the three got locked up in an asylum together under the care of psychiatrist Sarah
Paulson - as if just putting those men in a room together wasn’t bad enough, clearly no one had seen a single episode
of American Horror Story!

Birds of Prey February 7, 2020 DC and Warner Bros. seem determined to play to their strengths in 2020. Suicide Squad was divisive, to say the least,
but fans loved Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn… or, at least, they could see her potential. That's why she's being given an
even more central role in a Birds of Prey movie, the full title of which (as revealed by Robbie herself on Instagram) is the
delightfully colorful Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
Bond 25 February 14, Tomorrow never dies, and neither does James Bond. The follow-up to 2014's Spectre has had as rough a road as any
2020 entry in the franchise's five-decade history. It was uncertain for a while if Daniel Craig would even return for a fifth
mission, and acclaimed Trainspotting director Danny Boyle was in and then out of the director's chair. Now, though,
some facts about 007's 25th cinematic outing are becoming official.

Kingsman: The February 14, After a successful-enough sequel that broadened the scope and raised the stakes of its predecessor, the Kingsman
Great Game 2020 series is becoming what every action property dreams of: a fully-fledged franchise. Not only does director Matthew
Vaughn have another sequel in mind for Taron Egerton and Colin Firth's characters, he's also envisioning a spinoff, a TV
series, and a prequel. The prequel will be arriving next, slated (after some re-shuffling of Fox's schedule) for Valentine's
Day of 2020.

Mulan March 27, 2020 Disney is set to turn another one of their most popular animated films into a live action epic in 2020, debuting an updated
version of Mulan. The movie, which was initially set to be released in 2018 but later pushed back, will be directed by The
Zookeeper's Wife's Niki Caro based on a script from Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Jurassic World).

The New April 3, 2020 Dare we even talk about The New Mutants as a 2020 release? At this rate, assigning an actual date to this seemingly
Mutants cursed X-Men project is like waiting for a toad to get struck by lightning. After an initial trailer was released in the bygone
days of October 2017, the movie has been pushed back no fewer than three times, shifting from April 2018 to February
2019, then to August 2019. The recent release of Disney's post-Fox-merger schedule, however, revealed that New
Mutants had been delayed yet again, all the way to April 3, 2020.

Fast & Furious 9 April 10, 2020 Viewers will have to wait an extra year for Fast & Furious 9, but they'll get a spinoff movie out of Dwayne Johnson and
Jason Statham in the meantime — and it should be worth the wait when it finally does hit theaters in the spring of 2019.
Although we don't know much about where the saga's headed next, the pressure to keep upping the stakes should mean
it'll find a way to be even more epic than previous installments.

Godzilla vs. May 22, 2020 Film fans will finally get the answer to an age-old question in 2020, when Godzilla and King Kong face off on the big
Kong screen. Director Adam Wingard has already assured fans that his take on the two monsters will crown a definitive
winner, unlike the 1962 film that first pit the two characters against each other. This will be the fourth entry in
Legendary's MonsterVerse, first established in 2014's Godzilla and further explored in Kong: Skull Island.

Wonder Woman June 5, 2020 2017's Wonder Woman is the most critically acclaimed movie in the DC Extended Universe by a wide margin (no,
1984 really… a wide margin). It makes sense, then, that Gal Gadot's embodiment of the Amazonian warrior is being fast-
tracked back to the big screen while Superman and Batman are left to fight a legion of issues standing in the way of their
next movie appearance. Diana's second solo adventure hasn't been without delays of its own, however; the movie was
pushed back from its original 2019 holiday season release to June 5, 2020.

Top Gun June 26, 2020 Director Joseph Kosinski made his movie debut with 2010's TRON: Legacy, a sequel for a generation that hadn't even
been born when its predecessor was made. Now, he's set to do it again with Top Gun: Maverick, the 2020 follow-up to
1986's military thrill ride. Much like Creed, the new film will find the original movie's hero taking the son of his fallen friend
under his wing.
