Justification for Deemed University Candidacy

Rungta College of Engineering and Technology (RCET), Bhilai is the flagship institute of
Santosh Rungta Group of Institutions, and is situated in Sprawling 80 Acre Campus in Bhilai.
The Group started its operations in 1999 with its flagship institute RCET, Bhilai and the group
has created effective knowledge hubs in the field of Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy,
Infotech, Science & Technology, Management and Research in Chhattisgarh. In a very short
span of time the Group has achieved excellence in every field of professional education.
Today the Group manages total nine institutions in two modern campuses in Bhilai and
Raipur - The State capital. Group has four Engineering Colleges, a Pharmacy College, two
Science and Technology Colleges, Education College and a prestigious IB Board International
School.

RCET, Bhilai, Is Affiliated to Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai, which happens
to be state government’s technical University and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Its
seventh year in a row for RCET, Bhilai to get accreditation from National Board of
Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and today, all Technical Departments of RCET Bhilai are
Accredited Departments.

Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai has progressed in a very brisk pace in
just 18 years and has attained several accomplishments of National Repute and prestige.
RCET, Bhilai had been faring amongst top 50 Institutions of Excellence by most professions
Ranking Agencies as is evident in following partial listing: Ranked 34th in Outlook Survey for
India’s Best Professional Colleges by Outlook in 2017, Ranked 18th in India by DATA QUEST
in the Survey Of Top T-Schools in 2017, Ranked 35th in India and 2nd in East by The Week in
2017, Ranked 32nd in India and 1st in East by Competition Success Review in 2017, Ranked 78 in
India and 1 in Chhattisgarh by Education World in 2017, Graded AAA by Careers 360 in India’s
Best Engineering Colleges in 2017.

RCET, Bhilai stands out as a quality driven institute with excellence as its driving force in all
spheres of professional education. This aspect got validated with the grant of prestigious
World Bank grant of four crores under TEQIP - II scheme. RCET, Bhilai was the youngest
institute in India to have bagged this grant. Today, RCET, Bhilai attracts students from not
just the state of Chhattisgarh and adjoining states but also International Students from
SAARC countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka and countries like UAE, Sudan, South Sudan,
Nigeria and IvoryCoast.

In span of just 18 years, institute’s faculty and academic administrators have succeeded in
bringing the desired maturity in the system that, not just classroom teaching is crisp and
engrossing, the faculty have started contributing in Research and development too. RCET,
Bhilai not just has Nine academic departments with approved Research Centres, but have
been successful in bagging Research grants for research and Seminar/ Conference
conduction to the tune of Rs. 46012000/- and Rs. 4781896 respectively. Academic
enrichment is also evident in the fact that more than 60 faculty of various department are
pursuing Ph.D. from its own research centres. Institute also brings out Six International
Journals for various departments.

RCET, Bhilai has succeeded in maintaining its Excellence through high level of Integrity and
commitment towards quality, imbibed in all pillars of Academics. Be it, Academic delivery
and Administration, be it Faculty development and enrichment, Exams control and
administration or Training and Placement of Students. Its due to this high level of
commitment towards free and fair academic administration mechanism that several
prestigious Exams including UPSC, GATE, SBI, get administered by Exam department of the
institute in online/ Offline mode.

RCET, Bhilai, has been successful in bringing out industry ready students year after year
through its rigorous trainings, both in Soft Skills and personality development as well as
Technical domain over and above normal academics. Today RCET, Bhilai is Accredited by
Accenture, TCS, Capgemni Tech Mahindra, SAP, AMAZON, Amdocs, Adani Power,
Reliance-Jio etc. for placements and its Strong Alumni is having flourishing career in
companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Oracle, Aditya Birla Group, General Cables,
Cummins etc.

RCET, Bhilai, now has reached the level wherein it needs to span its wings and enrich its
academic environment by attaining the Deemed University Status and derive mileage out of
the freedom and autonomy it gets with it. There are various exciting plans that are not
getting implemented in current structure like Foreign University Collaborations, Twinning
Programs, Faculty Exchange and Student Exchange programs and management feels that
Deemed Status will be the apt development to attain new heights.

Chairman Shri Santosh Rungta is being carried forward with full commitment and dedication
by his two Sons :- Dr. Sourabh Rungta - Director Technical, who happens to be a Ph.D. in
Computer science and his younger brother Shri Sonal Rungta - Director F&A, who
incidentally happens to be the youngest Chartered Accountant (C.A.) of Central India.
