Introduction
Newly recruited Aerodrome Inspectors and existing qualified Inspectors are required to undergo initial
and recurrent training in accordance with Organisational and EASA requirements. This Plan represents a
modular training programme for an newly appointed Aerodrome Inspector (AI), to ensure such personnel
are qualified to perform their allocated tasks and have the necessary knowledge, experience, initial and
on-the-job training to ensure continued competence.
In practice, exercises and briefings detailed in the Modules will be scheduled to coincide, where possible,
with planned oversight visits, while Module 7 events should ideally be completed within 12 months from
initial appointment into role. A flexible approach to the focus of each exercise should also be adopted,
depending upon the Inspector’s previous experience. The final competency check should be performed
during an actual oversight visit and is to be monitored by the Principal Operations or RFFS Inspector, as
appropriate, and signed off by Manager, Aerodromes.
Inspectors undergoing initial training should be monitored throughout by the Principal Ops or RFFS
Inspectors, as appropriate, although monitoring of individual exercises will usually be delegated to an
experienced Inspector that has been identified as a mentor.

The following checklist has been developed to help with the induction process for a new Aerodrome
Inspector (AI) into ‘Aerodromes’ section of AAA. Managers inducting new AIs to the Section through
internal transfer or promotion or welcoming back an employee from a long period of absence may also
use this checklist.
