II. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE
The LGBT Pride Month is celebrated in June usually on the last
Sunday of the month to recognize the impact of the LGBT people to our
community and promote open-mindedness, acceptance, camaraderie and
equal rights towards people, homosexual or not. The celebration that will be
held in the school will include a pride parade where the flags sold to the
students will be the source of funds. A symposium will also be conducted
with an open forum to allow students to ask questions regarding the LGBT
and there will also be a runway show that will require participants to pay for
registration which will also serve as funds. This event will allow students to
showcase their creativity, confidence and allow them; especially the
closeted ones to express themselves freely for a day which will be good for
a teenager’s mental state and well-being.
The proponents of this activity along with other teaching staff and
officers of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of Marcial O. Rañola
Memorial School hope to realize the proposed objectives of this activity. The
beneficiaries of this activity are the students. If realized, the goals of this
activity will be met and the funds that will be raised will serve as the standing
fund of the association to finance future projects aimed to improve the
school for the sake of students.
