II. RATIONALE

School library is a support system of educational institution to help

achieve its desired goals. Hence, a library existed primarily to serve the
students and personnel not only in providing general information they need
but also in offering materials for general entertainment and leisure
purposes.

In addition, a library allows users to take books and other materials off
the premises temporarily. This service helps students and teachers enjoy
reading on their desired time and comfort. The materials available inside the
 library should not be limited on the academic literatures and references only
but it should also include a vast variety of materials from fiction to
nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers and others to help molds the
young and creative minds of this 21st century learners.

However, DNHS library is lacking of many things. It needs improvement

from its physical appearance to its content. The books inside are indeed
useful and helpful to students in their studies but not sufficient enough to
cater their needs and support them in this 21st century. Thus, a need for
updated and new books is relevant and necessary for the entire school.

III. OBJECTIVES

1. To provide students access to new information and experience the

happiness of learning through updated books.
2. To increase the use of reading materials in school.
3. To motivate students to read books and appreciate the importance of
reading in one’s life.
4. To build strong linkages among LGUs and other private institutions
that will help in achieving quality education.

IV. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project is intended to improve and update the reading materials

inside the library of Dapa National High School. Moreover, once new
updated books are dispensed the inadequacy of reading materials will be
resolved and the effectiveness of the services of school library will be upheld
and sustained.
