This is a

complicated
issue. I’d
appreciate it if
you ran the full
quote from Lujan
if you decide to
report on this.

Ben Ray Lujan:

“ICE is
fundamentally
broken.

President Trump
has co-opted the
agency to
enforce his
bigoted and anti-
immigrant
agenda through
terror and fear -
abolishing ICE
will not solve this
problem.

These extreme
deportation
efforts will not
stop so long as
Donald Trump is
president.

If not run through

Immigration and
Customs
Enforcement,
President
Trump's
deportation force
would be
transferred to
another agency
within the
Department of
Homeland
Security.

Rather than
abolishing
Immigration and
Customs
Enforcement,
Congress must
fundamentally
overhaul the
agency.

We owe it to the
families being
targeted by
President Trump
to take concrete
action.

I have steadfastly
opposed this
administration’s
cruel and racist
policies by taking
action to limit the
agency’s
authority.

Zealous
oversight,
passing strict
laws to limit the
agency's mission,
requiring
transparent and
thorough
reporting to
Congress, and a
fundamental
revamp and
reform of the
agency is
required.
Furthermore,
electing a
Democratically-
controlled
Senate, holding
the House, and
defeating
President Trump
in 2020 to enact
these policies
will protect all
communities
including our
undocumented
brothers and
sisters.”
