REFLECTION

In this week’s module, I’ve learned about the context and necessities of training by needs
analysis. As stated, needs analysis involves collection and examination of the objective and
subjective needs of the participants. Needs that are easily measured or quantified by
administrators and teachers is called objective needs while need as seen through the eyes of the
learners themselves is called subjective needs (Brown, 2007). It is important to know needs
analysis as it helps us in deciding the purpose and setting goals for a training. We have to always
consider the requests and opinions before we design our training so that the needs will be filled
out.

The most useful learning I acquired is how to conduct needs analysis. We have to
consider first the educational setting or background of the participants. Second, we have to find
out the participants’ class size. Third, we have to know the participants’ curriculum, evaluation
and assessment.

I plan to use this learning in the class by the use of different tools to gather the needs of
the participants. We can use surveys, observation and interview to gather data. When interpreting
data, we have to prioritize the needs we found in the analysis to address the problems that the
participants is facing.

The challenge I encountered while MOOCing is the slow internet connection as usual. It is
not new, next time I will answer modules early in the morning.
