are 1.29 and 1.16, imply that the responses of the respondents are not very close to the mean

signifying variations in their answers.

The moderate rating of 3.22 on type of comparison means that it is sometimes

manifested in the organization. Also, the data in the appended Table 1.1 shows that the senior

high school students provided moderate rating on the following statements, to wit: senior high

students rating about their body attractiveness, 3.28; the students rating about their fitness,3.27;

the students rating about their weight, 3.28; the students rating about their body shape, 3.22;

and the students rating about their muscle mass or tone, 3.07.

The second moderate rating of 3.15 on frequency means that it is sometimes manifested
in the school. Similarly, the data in the appended Table 1.2, shows that the students gave
moderate ratings on the following views, to wit: senior high students compare themselves in
same-sex friends, 3.35; students compare themselves in same-sex peers, 3.26; students
compare themselves in same-sex siblings, 2.96; and students compare themselves in same-sex
model/celebrities, 3.

that my stomach is just the right size, 3.48; and I like the shape of my buttocks, 3.46.

The next indicator is social physique anxiety, it has high level rating which means that it

is oftentimes manifested. In the appended table 2.2, it shows that social physique anxiety rated

1 item with high level which conveys that it is oftentimes manifested, to wit: I am comfortable

with how my body appears to others, 3.74. And also, there are four moderate level which

viewed to be sometimes manifested. And these are: in the presence of others I do not feel

apprehensive about my physique/ figure, 3.38: I am not bothered by thoughts that other people

are evaluating my weight development negatively, 3.6; unattractive figure of my physique does

not make me nervous in certain social setting, 3.5; and I am not uptight about my physique/

figure, 3.5.

Multidimensional body-self relation is another indicator of body image with High rating.

As shown in the appended table 2.3, all of five items were rated high level which implies that

they were oftentimes manifested. These items were: I am careful to buy cloths will make me

look my best, 4.11; before going out in public, I always notice how I look, 4.01; I like my looks
just the way they are, 4; it is important that I have superior physical strength, 3.89; and my body

is sexually appealing, 3.43.

The last indicator of body image is Body Esteem, that was rated with High-level, thus it is

distinguish to be oftentimes manifested. The appended table 2.4, further shows that senior high

school students of UMIHS believed that each item was oftentimes manifested giving all of them

a high-level rating. These items are: I am satisfied with my body scent, 3.97; I am satisfied with

my energy level, 3.89; I am satisfied with my waist, 3.77; I am satisfied with my nose, 3.75; I am

satisfied with the appearance of my stomach, 3.73; I am satisfied with my physical stamina,

3.71; and I am satisfied with my lips, 3.9.

This study aims to determine the relationship between social comparison


and body image

Of senior high school students, random sampling technique was used
