Ensure that the emphases don’t stop the sentence from flowing naturally.
I’d strongly advise against counting the speech rhythm quaver (eighth note) passages as “1 & 2 & 3 &” (etc).
-- This is likely to introduce a stiffness to the phrasing which is quite unsuitable.
