Angkor explained in numbers and curiosities

The complex from Angkor... the place where one million peolple live... a large archacological site...
much international money invested in conversation. Still, a lot of mistery and fascination, many
questions to answer.

More stone that for the Egyptian yramids. Perfectly polished, cut into blocks, linked by a procces of
„sanding”.

The complex has one thounsand sites, from piles of stones to Angkor wat and its beauty.

We read about the system of canals, so well made that the rice fields were watered with the water
they collected in one year. The system of those of those times (8 th centrury BC) was more
performant than what they have in Cambodia today.

Preah Khan
We now invite you to see Preah Khan, a simple structure, a rentagular one, bornered by a noat, large
in size, offering a succession of styles, elements of Hinduism and Buddhism. The place is fill of
shrines, regetation, it is part of the collapsed wall. It has galleries and decorations of soft green mass.

Near Pean
Near Pean is a Buddhist temple, a functional water around reflects light like a mirror.

They say that the water pools have healing properties explained by the ballance between the four
elements: earth, water, fire and wind.

Ta Som
Ta Som has the same air like Preah Khan and dates from the same period.

We are convinced that the restoration will involve cutting, but, for now, the allure of the mysterious
place has just discovered itself.

East Mebol

We get off the group aand get closer to the sun, even if the wind is not blowing and nature seems to
be a temple.

It is dedict to Shiva which represent a form of Ishvara or God in Hindu religion, especially in later
Vedic shrines. It is also the supreme god in shivaism, one of the main branches of Hinduism practiced
in India.
The sculptures and reliefs here are outstanding and it is easy to identify the house after the
elephants placed in corners. They are more than 2 meters high and, yet, you can still see the
decorative details.

Slyde 7:

Pre Rup
These last temples are "mountain" or "pyramid" type, made of several materials. The idea of
they suggest is that ascent from the human level, on to the higher levels of gods.
The name is descriptive, meaning - "body turn" - referring to the ritual by which human ashes
were scattered in different directions at the funerals.

ANGKOR WAT is a tourist attraction that can stir up your curiosity to explore a mysterious world and
we hope that after this short presentation you will have at least one attempt to find out more
information and even to visit this outstanding complex, between terrestrial and astral.
