Junior School Newsletter
School Values

Our values are important because they help us to
grow and develop. They help us to create the future
we want to experience. They make us into the
people we want to be and enable us to live in a
society that cares for one another.
Transition Week
We have all enjoyed our transition week this
week, with the children meeting their new class
teachers. They have taken part in fun transition
activities in the classrooms and everyone ‘went to
the circus’ on Tuesday.
Attendance
Well done Leopard Class – 100% attendance. Amazing!
Just a reminder that our annual school target from
the local authority is 96.5%. Letters have been sent to
those pupils with 100% attendance and those whose
attendance percentage has dropped. These letters
are a reminder if a child’s attendance has dropped.
It is a statutory requirement to keep parents
informed.
Thank you to those parents who continually support
us. We will soon be awarding all children with
excellent attendance.
Rounders Fixtures
The Under 9 rounders team played Whiston
Worrygoose, Brinsworth Howarth and Canklow
Woods in a rounders tournament at home. We
played extremely well, winning 12.5 rounders to
Canklow, 11.5 to Worrygoose and Brinsworth
Howarth 7. Well done to everyone who played.
Next week the U9s continue the rounders
tournament at home.
Breakfast Club
Following the success of our breakfast club we
are looking to extend the provision into
September. Those parents already using the
pace! club will have received new contracts
breakfast
to complete. If you are interested in accessing the
breakfast club provision from September please
call into the school office for a contract.
Book Bus
Thank you to everyone who came and looked at
the books on The Book Bus on Wednesday with
their child. The money raised from the sale of the
books will be used for reading resources for
school.

Late Attendance
Attendance and punctuality have a direct positive
impact on the achievement and attainment of your
child. Missing just 10 minutes of school a day is the
same as missing two weeks over the year.
If you do have difficulties getting your child to school
on time in the morning please contact the Inclusion
team or consider sending your child early to school.
This half term we have been trialling opening our
doors to children from 8.30am. Many of our children
have said that they would like to come into school to
read or settle into the day earlier rather than be out
on the yard.
Dinner Money
Please note that from September the price of
school dinners will be increasing from £2.05 per
day to £2.10 per day or £10.50 per week.
This is a price increase due to the Local
Authority and is the first price rise in two years.
Please ensure that if your child has school
dinners that you keep your account in credit
before any meals are taken. Next week is the
last week of term. Please ensure all debt is
cleared.
Library Service Public Consultation
The Public Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs are
running a public consultation about the future of
Library services. They would like to involve the
voices of children in Rotherham within this
consultation. A copy of the survey was sent out
last week, if you and your child would like to
complete it.
The consultation period ends on 14th July 2019 – so
make sure you have your say before then.
