Text 1: Borobudur Temple

(1) Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Borobudur is well-known all
over the world as one of the biggest Buddhist temple ever build. The construction is
influenced by the Gupta architecture of India.
(2) The design of Borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe based on the
temples at Angkor, Cambodia. Borobudur temple is include as one of the most important
world heritage by UNISCO in 1991. It is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.
(3) The temple is constructed with 46 M high and consist of eight steps like stone terrace.
The first five terraces are square and surrounded by walls which decorated with Buddhist
holy journey in the form of relief.
(4) Borobudur is Hindu – Budhist temple. It was built around 8th until 9th century under the
Syailendra dynasty from ancient Mataram kingdom.
(5) Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire structure is crowned by a
large stupa at the center at the center of the top circle.
