ACKNOWLEDGMENT

First of all I owe it to the one who truly lead us and never let us fall. He guide
us and makes us more than what we can be. I thank God.

I always thank my subject professor, Mr. Anthony Vincent Sta. Ana he is

one of the best professors that I met. Nevertheless, he did his part very well
because I truly believe that without his guidance I cannot finish the road to my goal.
I succeeded everything.

To my colleagues that never stop to remind each and every one that we can
do this! I know that we can be somebody someday, keep on holdin’ on because
God has better plans for us.

For my family that wakes me up every day so I can attend my duties. The
best part of being a student is that you have a family that supports you. A family
that never stops to love and understand why you are late or why you haven’t
attended the school meetings or even missing out the family gatherings. But all of
this are worth it.
Teresita S.M Nicolas

ABSTRACT'

This study primarily aimed to determine the behavior of rabies patients

towards the danger and threats of rabies infection. This study utilized a descriptive

research method to describe the demographic profile of respondents (e.g. sex,

age, employment status, and socio-economic status), their awareness in dangers

and threats of rabies infection as well as about the details of anti-rabies vaccination

program. This study sought the percentage of respondents to adhere on

vaccination and factors of vaccine hesitancy. Moreover, the researchers proposed

an intervention to increase anti-rabies vaccine compliance.

Based on this study, the rabies patients of Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, Sta.

Maria, Bulacan are mostly unable to pay for expensive or costly anti-rabies

treatment. Most of these patients are unemployed and earning minimal income.

This proves that they are not capable of availing expensive treatments. Rabies

patients are aware of the details of anti-rabies vaccination treatment. This entails

that the effort of the medical institutions and health professional are successful to

introduce anti-rabies vaccination. Moreover, in spite of the level of awareness of

the rabies patients, most of them fear the cost of treatment and its side effects.

This entails that the information they knew are basic and insufficient to trust the

treatment and be motivated.

This study strongly recommended that the government in partnership with

the medical institutions should provide free and affordable anti-rabies vaccination

treatment to encourage rabies patients to avail anti-rabies vaccines. Also, health

professionals should orient the public on the effectiveness and safety of anti-rabies

vaccines. This is important to encourage them undergo anti-rabies treatment.
