DETAILED Date/Time Quarter
LESSON PLAN

I. OBJECTIVES  Define science.

 Cite several applications of science.
The Learners demonstrate understanding of the scientific ways of acquiring
1. Content Standards
knowledge and solving problems.
The Learners should be able to perform in groups in guided investigations
2. Performance Standards
involving community-based problems using locally available materials.
3. Learning Competencies / Objectives
The learners should be able to:
Write the LC code for each 1. describe the components of a scientific investigation; S7MT-Ia-1

II. CONTENT

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References

1. Teacher's Guide Pages

2. Learner's Materials Pages
3. Textbook Pages

4. Additional Materials from Learning

Resource (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resource Paper strips, illustrations

IV. PROCEDURES

A. ELICIT Learning Check – Up: (5 minutes) (Reflective Approach)

B. ENGAGE (5 minutes) (Constructivist Approach)

Questions to ponder:
 What is science?
 What is the importance of science?
 Why is science important?

C. EXPLORE (20 minutes)( Collaborative Approach)

The learners will be grouped into five (5). Each group will be given strips of paper
white letters S-C-I-E-N-C-E. Each group should have a representative of each
letter who will state the definition of science and its importance.

You complete me:

S C I E N C E
D. EXPLAIN (15 minutes) (Integrative Approach)

INTERACTION:
1. How do scientists solve a problem?
2. How do they explain a natural phenomenon?
3. How do they find ways to improve people’s lives?
4. How do they discover and formulate new concepts and theories in search of
truth?
E. ELABORATE (5 minutes) (Reflective Approach)
Chain of Learning:
The teacher will facilitate an activity where random students are to share what
he/she have learned in one sentence. It will go this way, one student drawn from
a fish bowl will share a sentence of learning then it will be repeated by the whole
class. Next another student will be drawn. This student should then restate what
the previous student said followed by his own one sentence he learned repeated
by the class after. And so on.
F. EVALUATE (10 minutes) (Reflective Approach)
True or False. Write T if the statement is correct and F otherwise.
1. Science is concerned with understanding how nature and the
physical world work.
2. Science can prove anything, solve any problem, or answer any
question.
3. Any study done carefully and based on observation is scientific.
4. Science can be done poorly.
5. Different scientists may get different solutions to the same problem.
G. EXTEND Agreement:
 Show and Tell
