1 The Telex
A. Look at the telex.
Answer the questions based on the telex beside.

1. Who wrote the telex?


2. Where was the telex sent from?
3. Which person is the telex for?
4. Which company is the telex for?
5. What is the date and time on he telex?
6. What is the subject of the telex?

B. Abbreviations in a telex

 The message in a telex is very short and simple.


Words are made shorter by using abbreviations.
Sentences are made shorter by using only
important words.
An injury to a crewman = injury to crewman
I suspect a serious back injury = suspect serious back injury
A crewman is badly injured = crewman badly injured
C. From letter to telex.
Read the letter and change the letter into a telex.

2 Asking for and giving advice


When we are speaking. We can ask for advice We can also give advice in these ways:
