THE ROLE OF LEARNING SOCIAL STUDIES IN GROWING CLEAN AND HEALTHY

BEHAVIOR IN SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

(Case Study at SMP 1 Cililin, West Bandung Regency)

ABSTRACT

The implementation of education in schools needs to be supported by an order that can realize
clean and healthy behavior for all members of the school community especially for students in an
effort to instill awareness, willingness and ability to live clean and healthy lives both in school and
social life in the community.In order to foster students' awareness of cleanliness and health in the
school environment, it can be conveyed through social studies. The formulation of the problem in
this study is how to foster awareness of clean and healthy behavior through social studies learning
at SMP 1 Cililin, West Bandung Regency.The approach used is a qualitative approach with a
descriptive method of the type of case study with the research location at SMP 1 Cililin. The
respondent is a school citizen consisting of the Principal, the Deputy Secretary of the Curriculum,
Social Sciences teachers, UKS Teacher Builders, and students.The research findings show that
Social Studies Learning plays a role in fostering Clean and Healthy Life behaviors of students, if
in the learning process, the teacher is able to develop the potential of students to the fullest, both
from the cognitive domain (knowledge), affective domain (attitudes and values), and psychomotor
domain (skills) then knowledge about PHBS will be more easily obtained by students. Factors that
can foster student PHBS are socialization of the movement aware of clean and healthy lifestyle
through curricular activities (social studies learning) also through extra-cricular activities
(student organizations in the school environment). The independence of students in carrying out a
clean and healthy behavior awareness movement can be carried out by means of disseminating
information about PHBS through various activities carried out in schools such as flag ceremonies,
meetings, and through posters, slogans and baligo.
