Question
9. The ratio of expenses of vijay on Food, Home and Commutation in the month of June was 5:2:1 while the same ratio in the
month of July was 6:3:1. In the month of June he spent 80% of his income on these three heads while in the month of July
he spent 75% of his income on the same heads. The expense on food increased by 10% as compared to expense on food
in June. What is percentage increase in his income in July from June?

Solution

Let the total income in June is Rs. 100


The expenditure was Rs. 80 and Expense on food was Rs. 50.

Now the expense on food in July is 10% more than expense on food in June.
So expense in June is Rs. 1.1 x 50 = Rs. 55
