“ In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our

friends”

- Martin Luther King

How many acts of genocide must be done to say it is already “Genocide”?

The Story revolved around the Goverment Soldier Augustin and his family who fought
their hardest to survive this civil war in Rwanda in April of 1994. The grueling scenes
would make you cringe out of hate and despise the conspiracies against nations. Yes,
it was a supposed internal war between Hutus’and Tutsis’ but they were practically
armed by international governments that used its power to have potentially
extinguished a tribe that reached a million deaths.

The assassination of then President Juvénal Habyarimana which ignited ethnic

tensions in the region. Then 10 years later Augustin’s Brother Honoré, a radio
personality and is known to be a Pro-Hutu supporter working for Radio Télévision
Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM) was tried by the International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda for his role at RTLM.

It also depicted in the film of how United Nations tries to define Genocide.

According to OFFICE OF THE UN SPECIAL ADVISER ON THE PREVENTION OF

GENOCIDE (OSAPG).

“Legal definition of genocide is defined in Article 2 of the Convention on the

Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948) as "any of the following
acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or
religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or
mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of
life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part1 ; imposing
measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring
children of the group to another group.”

The Film will make you think otherwise who is the friend, who is the foe. In this certain
topic it was the Government of Rwanda who mainly consists of Hutus who over used
its power and was using media which was termed “Hate Radio”to influence the beliefs
of its people that it could be your neighbor who will try to destroy and kill you.
Moreover the survivors trying to move on with their lives will never be the same after
witnessing such horrific instances in their lives.

This film will forever be a reminder that for 100 in 1994 this happened.
