1 New Features
1.1 Programming Updates
1.1.1 Reorganisation of RPS Alignments
When performing an RPS alignment, the dialog box has been reorganised. All available
options can now be modified on the same tab page improving the ease of use of this
alignment type.

1.1.2 Enhancement to Angle Selection for Angle Between Tolerances

When creating an angle between (ANGLB) tolerance for the actuals or nominals of two
selected features there are now more angle options available. A new toggle button in the
Angle Between Wizard and the Angle Between Tolerance dialog box) allows you to easily
cycle through the different angle options available. The image on the button will change to
show the type of angle acute angle - obtuse angle - reflex angle of the obtuse angle etc.).

1.1.3 Warning on Setting Out of Limit CMM Variables

CAMIO now issues a warning if a CMM variable is trying to be set to a value that is outside
the upper or lower limits as set in the CMM configuration file. This warning is issued whether
the variable is set through an existing command in a running program, or through a dialog
box, or through selecting a probe that has a probe profile set up, and lists the upper and
lower limits for that variable. In the case of more than one variable set in a single dialog box,
CAMIO highlights the specific variable that is in error. This ensures that only suitable values
can be set and the user is alerted to any variables that are not acceptable for the CMM
currently being used.

New Features 3
New Features

1.1.4 Adjustment to the Creation of GOTO Moves

When creating GOTO moves using the Free Position and Absolute options, check boxes
have been added to allow the user to specify the axes in which the CMM will move. By
default, all axes are unlocked (allowing the CMM to move in all three axes simultaneously). If
an axis is locked (by unchecking the check box), the CMM will not move in that axis. This
allows the creation of GOTO moves in one, two or three axes, and the user can specify
which these axes are.

1.1.5 Streamlining of Sensor Calibration Options

When calibrating sensors using the CAMIO Sensor Manager, the mode options are now
more accesible. On opening the Calibrate dialog box, the mode options are instantly visible
with the mode defaulting to Auto (used for most types of sensors). After calibration, the
program mode will automatically revert back to that selected before the start of the calibration
routine.

1.2 CAD Improvements

1.2.1 Introduction of a CAD Layers Window
A new window has been added in CAMIO to improve the ability to organise the layers of
information in the model window and in a CAD area of a report. You can switch layers on and
off to give a clear view of an area or detail of the CAD model. All the layers assigned to the
current CAD model are listed. If the box associated with a layer is checked, then that layer is
visible on the CAD model. If it not checked, then that layer is invisible. Multiple layers can be

selected by draggin the mouse cursor to draw a box over the required layers. The whole
CAD model can also be made visible or invisible in a single click. For models with a large
number of layers, a scroll bar allows easy access to all layers. Information in the title bar
changes according to whether the CAD layers are visible in the Model window, or in a
specific CAD area in a report.

1.2.2 Additional Functionality Added to Model Window Toolbar

Orientation Buttons
The orientation buttons on the toolbar of the Model window and the Report Design window
provide the ability to manipulate the view of the model. Using these buttons displays the
various surface views of the model while expanding or reducing the model to fit the window.
New functionality has been added to these buttons so that if you hold down the Shift button
while selecting one of these options, the various views of the model will be displayed whilst
maintaining the current zoom level. This allows a user to zoom in to a specific feature and
adjust the model orientation whilst remaining focused on just that feature.

1.3 CAMIO User Interface Improvements

1.3.1 Mouse Pointer Coordinates in the Status Bar
The Status bar in CAMIO now includes the X, Y and Z coordinates of the mouse pointer
allowing simple size calculations to be estimated prior to measurement.

1.3.2 Improvements to Window Docking

Docking 'hints' have been added to CAMIO to help with determining where a window will
dock to when rearranging your layout. When you grab a window (by the title bar to take a
group of windows, or by the tab to take a single window) and drag it, a set of markers will
appear on the screen. Drag the mouse over a marker and a blue rectangle will display in the
CAMIO window to show where the window you’re moving will be docked to when you let go
of the mouse button.

1.3.3 Redesign of Edit Sensors Dialog Box for Continuous Heads

When editing a sensor on a continuous head, the Edit Sensor dialog box now consists of edit
boxes to allow the full range of angles to be selected.

1.4 CAMIO Output Improvements

1.4.1 Unification of Decimal Places
The number of decimal places visible in report flyouts and tables are now the consistent with
other areas of CAMIO. This number is determined by the last value set with the DECPL
command before the generation of the report, or if there is no DECPL command, the default
value from the Preferences dialog box is used.

1.4.2 Clarification of the Output Result for Sensor Calibration

When outputting data for a calibrated sensor, the terminology has been changed to
'calibration form/sigma' to reflect that it is the form relating to the calibration of the sensor that
is being output.

1.5 CAMIO Database Admin Tool Updates

1.5.1 CAMIO Database Admin Tool Export Option
A new option has been added to the CAMIO Database Admin Tool. The Export functionality
on the Inspections tab allows you to export the contents of the selected inspection(s) to a

location of your choice. The inspection program, report templates and machine data files
(from the Appdata folder) are exported along with the inspection data, to a 7zip file.

1.6 Laser and Point Cloud Improvements

1.6.1 Detection Offset
A new laser parameter, Detection offset, has been added to CAMIO to detemine the 'offset'
that will be used to detect points that can be included in the feature detection.

1.6.2 GDP Export of Point Clouds

Using the Save Point Cloud functionality in CAMIO, it is now possible to export point clouds
in .gdp (Geomagic Point Data) format.

1.7 Ease of Use

1.7.1 Machine Launch Improvement
CAMIO provides a utility to allow multiple machines set ups to be accessed on a single
computer. This process in Machine Launch is now more intuitive, allowing a double-click on a
machine to launch CAMIO.

New Features 7
New Features

1.7.2 Additional Options for Opening and Printing CAMIO Reports

When creating reports in CAMIO additional options are now available through the Reporting
tab page of the New/Open Inspection dialog box. These options allow you to automatically
open or print the report after the program is complete.

8 New Features
New Features

1.7.3 Ability to Re-Locate a Single Stall of a Rack

For specific types of racks, occasionally a problem may arise where a stall in a rack may
need replacing. The rack functionality within the Sensors window in CAMIO now provides the
ability to reposition a single stall, rather than requiring the whole rack to be located again.

1.8 Support for the PHS1 Head

CAMIO now supports the use of the Renishaw PHS1 head. This is a servo positioning two-
axis motorised head which allows the probe configuration to be positioned at almost any
angle.
Due to the way the PHS1 head operates, a procedure is required to determine the offset
between the expected D=0, E=0 position and the actual D=0, E=0 position. The resulting
offset in each axis is stored in a log file, and on the controller.
This zero-angle offset procedure must be performed whenever the CMM is reset (homed),
after the power to the head has been switched on, or when going on line and an existing
zero-angle offset is not found in the controller. It will be carried out automatically in these
cases, but can also be performed by clicking the Reset PHS1 button on the Machine toolbar.
It must also be carried out if the master probe or master sphere have been modified or
deleted.

New Features 9
New Features

Reset PHS1 operation brings up a dialog allowing the selection of the master probe and
master sphere. If these have already been defined, they will be pre-selected and cannot be
changed. Otherwise, an existing probe can be selected, or the Create option opens the
Probe Designer to allow the creation of a probe to be used as the master probe. Similarly, an
existing sphere can be selected, or the Create option opens the New Sphere dialog to allow
the creation of a master sphere.

Once a master sphere and master probe have been created and attached to the CMM, the
user is prompted to perform a manual location by taking a touch on the top of the sphere.
The rest of the procedure is performed using automatic measurements.
At the end of the procedure, the sensors that were used will be automatically added to the
Default Sensor Collection in the Sensors Window. Additionally, the master sphere location
will be updated within CAMIO.
CAMIO can perform the zero-angle offset calculation procedure on bridge machines, and on
horizontal and dual arm machines.

New Features

1.8.1 Addition of a Master Probe

The operation used to reset PHS1 head requires the use of a master probe and a master
sphere. The Sensor Manager in CAMIO already uses the concept of a master sphere,
indicated by an M in the Sensors Window. CAMIO now also provides the ability to designate
a probe as a master probe, also indicated by an M in the Sensors Window. The master probe
should be a straight probe, with the shortest probe configuration possible, to reduce the error
caused by elasticity of the probe components.

New Features

1.8.2 Addition of the ACR2 Autochange Rack through Sensor

Management
CAMIO now supports the use of the ACR2 autochange rack, for use with the PHS1 head
system. The ACR2 is a modular system, allowing any number of racks to be positioned
anywhere within the machine volume. When setting up each rack using the CAMIO Sensor
Manager, the numbers of stalls are configured in pairs, up to 6. If more are required,
additional racks can easily be created.

New Features

1.8.3 Additions to the Probe Designer for the PHS1 Head

The components in the CAMIO Probe Designer have been updated to allow the selection of
components, extensions and adaptors specific to the PHS1 head.

1.8.4 Modification of Naming Conventions to Match All Supported

Head Types
CAMIO has been updated to allow the correct naming conventions to be used for all the
different head types that are now supported. These angles and naming conventions are used
throughout CAMIO including in the Probe Designer, the Model window, the DRO, the
Sensors window and in the user interface.
