Student Score Observation

Mayli 12 Got 100% correct.

Jameson 19 Answered the equal to questions and got them all correct.

Jett 3 Skipped the questions he did not know. Blamed Mayli for
saying the wrong answer.

Lincoln 7 Came late. Mr. Huish helped him one on one write down
answers.

Grant 4 Score decreased. He left questions blank. Was distracted with

the lemonade stand.

Ledger 9 I noticed on his test, number seven “after: is bolded. He got

that correct. Number twelve “before” is bolded, his answer is
the number after not before 18. Perhaps this confused him.

Peter 10 Identified the next shape in the pattern. I noticed he took of his
cast on Monday and returned today. He said he broke his
hand again.

Standard:
CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.
A.1
“Use addition and
subtraction within 20 to
solve word problems
involving situations of
adding to, taking from,
putting together, taking
apart, and comparing, with
unknowns in all positions,
e.g., by using objects,
drawings, and equations
with a symbol for the
unknown number to
represent the problem.”

1 7 Students have mastered adding single digit numbers.

2 5 More than half the class understands number

sequence.

3 6 Students have mastered how to identifying the number

of sides a trapezoid has.

4 5 Some left this question blank.

5 5 More than half the class understands number

sequence. Ledger put a line through each fish as he
counted to 8.

6 6 Students have mastered counting objects to help

solve addition problems.

7 4 Improvement in scores.

8 3 Several questions left blank.

9 4 Some children do not have the access skill to answer

this question.

10 4 Students struggle to subtract using word problems.

Again this could be due to not having the access skill
of reading.

11 6 Only one child did not get this correct. Jett counted the
number of triangles instead of adding next shape in
the pattern.

12 3 Questions left blank.

*** One child in our group is above average. Mr. Huish and I decided to give Jameson a
seperate and more challenging assessment. Jameson received 17 out of 20 subtraction
problems correct on first grade level. Jameson scored 11 out of 15 on a greater than, less than,
and equal to worksheet. The four problems he scored incorrectly was left blank. I asked
jameson why he did not answer the question and his reply was “I do not know what that means”.

Range 3-7 The lowest score is 3. More

students scored between a 4
and 6.

Mean 4.66 The mean went down by half

way. This may be due to so
many children leaving
questions blank and not
attempting to work on them.

Median 5
