OBJECTIVE:
To identify the issues, concerns and needs of each pillar and eventually come up with a
comprehensive Strategic Direction to bring the efforts together for the sector as a whole and
under each pillar.

To scale up and hasten the process of developing the strategic direction for
the cooperative sector, the initial response was the formation of Pillars namely:
FINANCIAL PILLAR – cooperatives involved in the delivery of financial
services to members and the public like the savings and credit cooperatives,
cooperative banks, insurance cooperatives, and their respective federations.
PRODUCERS’ and MARKETING PILLAR – composed of agri-based
producers and marketing cooperatives through which and among which we seek
to integrate the different procurement, production, distribution and marketing
initiatives.
SERVICE AND UTILITY PILLAR – cooperatives engaged in the delivery of
basic services such as electricity, water, transportation, communication, housing,
health, labor, and consumers cooperatives.
EDUCATION, INFORMATION, TRAINING AND ADVOCACY – composed of
cooperative federations and unions in partnership with pertinent government
agencies, SUCs and NGOs engaged in delivering education, training and
advocating the concerns of the cooperative sector.
The creation of the Pillars was premised on the sixth cooperative principle
Cooperation among Cooperatives, and on the idea that cooperatives can
complement and work best together if they are anchored on common needs and
services.
