Lifelong Music Action Plan Checklist

Objective: To introduce students to different ensembles and music making experiences outside
of the school walls

❏ Contact Syracuse Symphoria about school trip to see the Symphony (themed concert in
October and December)
❏ Contact local nursing home and have students perform in small chamber groups for the
residents
❏ Have 4th grade concerts there rather than at the high school on the big stage
❏ Vernon - American Legion
❏ Verona - Barnes and Noble? Or American Legion in Vernon
❏ Sherrill - Retirement center
❏ Have local musicians come in and hold master classes for students
❏ Contact Steve Fayette about doing a Bass Day
❏ Invite other schools
❏ Have them work on technique as well as learn a chamber piece
❏ Contact David Bebe about doing a guest conducting or Cello Day
❏ Invite other schools
❏ Guest conductors
❏ Contact Linda about Coser money to pay conductor
❏ David Bebe, Liz Handman, John Handman, or James Mick for District Concerts
❏ Have them do a day long workshop
❏ Request the Orchestra students across district for full day field trip
❏ Block out the Aud.
❏ Have teachers on reserve
❏ Get at least 3 subs
❏ Block out the Orchestra and Band room
❏ Have Boosters help feed the students and conductor
❏ Parent-student side-by-side 4th grade end of the year concert
❏ Have students teach a family member how to play their instrument and have
them perform together in the spring concert (twinkle, hot cross buns, mary, etc.)
❏ Have more student choice in music we perform in the spring concerts and have them
create small arrangements (6th grade)
